Hmmm, I'll have to use each computer at work tomorrow. Maybe that should work. Lol can't imagine asking my boss to let me borrow his comp for five minutes just to vote for this. I'll have to do it in the morning before he comes in.

I would get people at school to vote, but the URL has the word ‘game’ in it, so it's automatically blocked. Fury shall flare when the biology department wants to go to the fictional gametes.com. I'll keep MSNing everyone.

*goes to misuse more brand names/use more neolgisms*

I am concerned over the multiple-voting, though. Does fandom justify the falsifying of statistics? Personally, I don't believe it does. The poll is there to determine proprotions quite earnestly. It's one thing to give fans a kick in the pants, it's another to create inaccurate results. Proceed with caution.

True, but a poll like this could lead to better publicity; if we hadn't noticed this poll and Stranger's Wrath stayed at 3% Ea games are gonna get the idea that this game isn't gonna appeal to that many people. But if they see that Stranger is kicking LOTR's ass then there gonna think "We're onto something good here, let's put that little bit more effort into advertising it, which leads to more people finding out about the game, which leads to better sales, which leads to OI getting more $$. The fact that it's a poll on eagames makes it all the more important. Also if people who browse the ea website see Stranger's Wrath ahead of all the others in the poll, they're gonna think that this may be a game worth checking out. Yeah?

meh, I knew this poll doesn't mean anything for us. After all, we know we're trying to falsify it. We want EA Games to belieffve that Stranger is more popular than it currently is, though.
So I don't think we're cheating ourselves.

Nooo! I can't do any more! I voted with every dang computer in my old school's lab! Bah.
Whilst I can see where Max is coming from, all I will say is one thing: delete your cookies.

Anyway, do you really think those LOTR geeks aren't also doing that?

:
NDW... well I guess EA will see there are lots of people who cares about the oddworld games
Yeah, but will they do anything different because of that?

Incognito, I am aware of all those potentials, but I still stand by my principles. Smaller issues are great times to test the strength of your beliefs, and sadly mine are carved into my bones.

Yes, we either want for that, or for EA to discover that Oddworld does have a groovy popularity as it is, but while we were all pitching in and giving one vote, we were telling the truth and not creating inaccurate results.

:
Anyway, do you really think those LOTR geeks aren't also doing that?
That's a tu quoque.

I'm sticking by my reservations, but of course always encouraging others to vote legitimately.

It also makes visitors to the site take note of this game that is beating LOTR is a popularity poll, which could draw in some buyers.

Calm down, people. Stranger is still at 30-something percent. It's obvious it's very popular, almost as popular as something that's bound to have a humongous following (LoTR). There's no real reason for it to be in first place, whatever point there is to make has already been made.

As long as we stay at a close 2nd or 3rd I don't see why there isn't a problem. Instead of using all efforts in rigging this poll, why don't we instead just spread the word of Stranger's Wrath. While you're at school or work just mention to the person next to you, "Hey have you heard about that new 1st person-shooter game that's coming out..." or "Cool the new Oddworld game is coming out...". Direct them to the various website previews across the web, like this and this and the eagames stranger website

We know that EA games are advertising the game, but they did start a bit late, didn't they? So it's up to us the fans to help them along. Spread the word of ODD! Let people know about this title.

I know so many people with a PS2 that I could have told even more people had the PS2 port gone through. Ah well, no use crying over spilt milk.

Out of curiousity Alf, does it make any difference other than pride if we win?

I mean, will EA suddenly realise that Oddworld has a huge fan base, or will they just ignore the results?
I think the amount of voters, coupled with the fact that most of us in General Discussion have voted multiple times will impact on whether or not EA take things seriously, no to forget that this is the UK EA section. And I do believe they are less likely to use any data from an online poll a UK (or any other country bar USA) to determine support on Stranger's Wrath. Sad but true.

Very sad. Oddworld has a massive European following, and if EA have failed to realise that, then they're really not doing their job properly.
