That's something I forgot to say. . . Another reason why I see religion as being wrong. When they try and shove it down your throats, and I have a good reason to hate people who do that. . . Anyone here from The Glass Asylum remember the True Christians Unite incident? There was also another incident a while back, shortly after my dad died. . . This religious guy we met really upset my mum by telling her that because my dad didn't belive in religion, he'd gone to hell. My mum was bought up as a catholic, which is why it hurt her so much. Gives me a reason to hate religion. . .

Religion is something man made up and its ungodly. Man does not understand God nor does he worship God in the proper manner. And when I mean worship in the proper manner, just simply excepting God through faith that he does exist and that he is the alpha and the omega and everything in batween. You don't need to go to church and do that. Churches can be corrupt and denomination are retarded. God for me is more or less the essance of the Universe. The source of everything where all nature and natural occurances came from. There had to have been a driveing force that started the Universe and all that is into motion. The Universe and reality it self just does not come out of absolute nothing. Something caused the Atoms to move into a massive explosion called the Big Bang. Its just simply not logical to think that the Universe came into existance from absolutely nothing. God also is in the form of us and aswell as everything that exist. Its because of this we are truely special to God. God is also one being in 3 beings. The Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

Its because of these facts about God, is where we begin to not truely understand God and thus religion is created by us to better understand it. But we really don't need religion, we just need to open our minds up and stop being 1 dimensional people and think a little. God does not think like man so things with God are on Gods terms. Like one day for God can be 1000 years for us.

PA... what are you talking about? Your talking nonsence now...

Whats this rubbish?! Somehow I start to get the feeling you pretend to be gods next door neighboor. You seem to know him so well.
And just for the record...

:

Eh... yes it does... I can't recall it saying in the bible somewhere how the universe itself was created? Only Earth...
Want a headache? Then start thinking realy deep into how the universe had begon and what was there before the universe. And if your done with that (which I doubt you will ever be) start thinking about where the universe ends. That should keep you buzy for the next couple of hours.

PA, your last point reminded me of a Preacher who once began Preaching in town whilst i was there. I stopped to listen, his main ramblings where about the "Big Bang" and he looked at me briefly, stating "IF YOU THROW A GRENADE INTO A RUBBISH TIP, DOES IT EXPLODE AND SUDDENLY CREATE A WORLD?! NOOOO, OF COURSE NOT!!" to which my response was "But Space and a Rubbish tip are two very different things.". He ignored me, so i openly asked him a question about Adam and Eve. Mentioning Lilith. He was baffled. Silly little Christian.

Anybody see 'Jackass' were that random guy was dressed as Satan saying that God was jealous of him because he invented circumcision? And that Christian hit him in the face...that amused me. Christians, ahh, how you tickle my special places.

That is ridiculous PA. Well, I know its sensible, it terms of religion, but how incredibly crappy.
Some people put everything down to God, so know everyone believes it! I wish people would stop for a minute, and actually think seriously about where we might come from, then we have more chance of human advancement.

Just because we as human cannot actually even comprehend eternity, or no boundies, it does not mean that we need to put it down to God.
The universe has always been there, will always be there, and has no boundries. It keeps on going for ever and ever. We can't comprehend it, but it doesn't mean we need to put it all down to some fantastical mythical being who helpfully explains to us everything so we don't get scared.

You're a fool, PA. You don't bother argueing against ANYBODY - you just state your points then run for cover. And your cover normally includes sarcastic, idiotic and very unfunny quips or you hide behind your religion.
Again, are you honestly 22, and not 12? Another question you've yet to answer.

I'm actually s'pposed to be Agnostic. But through sheer habit i tend to talk to both "God" and "Lucifer" in my head. It's probably because i can't stand being alone...but still. I also make deals with them, yeh, 'cos i rock.

Anyway, my range of beliefs vary dramatically. Which means technically i can't be Agnostic...but i am...

:
The main point is that the Religions of the book are bound and determined to kill or convert all opposed. And that ain't cool.
It seems that I wrote a long post and, as usual, noone has bothered to read it.

so a quick precis here:
Fundamentalists: BAD.
Religion in general: not necessarily bad.
Anyone who says you have to join their religion or you are evil: BAD
Anyone who says you have to join their atheism or you are evil:BAD

My point is that what people have been writing in this thread is just as bad as what Osama bin Laden is saying. Take the sentence "You must be a Muslim or else" and replace the word 'Muslim' with 'Atheist'

BTW Jacob, Lillith is a myth created in the last 1000 years. It has no historical religious basis. read this: http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mlilith.html

'Lillith is a myth'

Yes, that's why she goes hand in hand with Bibical stories...

What, like telling them both to meet you in the park at 4:00pm and then you hiding in the bushes when they meet each other and them realising they have to sort out their differences by talking it over, and them sorting it out and deciding to destroy the human race as all we are are pawns in their little game?
Is that how it is?

I think I've outgrown these religion arguments. Usualy I see something that makes me soo mad that I'll make a lenghty post about how I think something is right.

I don't know what it is, but I don't really care anymore.

EDIT:
Holy Crap, Dark Hood! I've been skimming this topic and I just read the thing about that religious guy telling your Mum that your Dad was going to hell. What an idiot. I hate people like that.

Ummm... But at least the Old Testament is a 3500 year old myth which gives it a bit more credibility (if we're comparing)

my point about Lillith is that she has no basis in religion, rather a ghost story made up by (later) humans.

It's just that in truth, we all start out female in the womb, then the Y chromosome takes over and makes a boy. So far the theory I've heard is that Adam just didn't have nipples. I figured he probably didn't have a bellybutton either, since he didn't have a mother, thus giving him a bare, Mudokon-like chest and belly.

But hey, it gets even trickier. Lilith was supposed to be Adam's first wife, and she was made from dust, rather than from Adam, so if Adam had nipples, their existance would've been even more useless.

On the subject of religion, I know everybody says it's fine to have faith and all. But might we be heading into a time when religion will be doing more harm than good? Already you can see Bush blatantly tapping his faith into his job, making America the #1 choice of god, god is on our side, god told us to go to war with Iraq, etc. And on the other side you've got people condemning us as infidels and white devils and if you suicide bomb us you get to have a bunch of virgins when you die, which is one of the most idiotic, shallow and materialistic religious beliefs I've ever heard, an affront to the very concept of spirituality. Could religion really be doing more harm than good? Like the man said in Dogma, it's better to have ideas, because it's harder to change beliefs, which rings true to me because change is one of the most important things in the universe.

Fax, you are a silly Rabbit.

When i make deals i state such things as "Please let me get [enter certain amount here] this month!! I promise, i'll never ask for anything more this month!! One of you has to, God? Lucifer? Come on. You know you want to." and when i get a certain amount [usually what i wanted] i thank both of them.

'Ummm... But at least the Old Testament is a 3500 year old myth which gives it a bit more credibility'

How do you know?

'rather a ghost story made up by (later) humans.'

Much like God. But this time by 'later' i mean the people after Neandethals...

It has to be said, however, Religion does help create amazing films/games/stories. Well, the Christian Religion does...others don't...because their Religions are hethen Religions...damn Paki's.

Whoo!! Racist words are fun!!
