No, that's why SOME religions don't work. Don't forget that there are some religions (okay, maybe they're cults) that advocate having sex with as many people as often as possible.

Even then, I think this is probably more of a cultural thing than a religious thing - Parents too self-conscious to do the right thing by their kids. There is no religion that says sex is a completely bad thing. At least no religion that lasted more than one generation (Essenes, here we come...)

I don't even think that's possible! I mean... eight years is a long time! They would have had to seen each other naked at one point... And Humans have sexual urges. AND... If they were extremly religious, they probably wouldn't have gone to a fertility clinic. I just don't think this story adds up.

We are sentient, abundant, adaptable, inarguably the wisest and most intelligent creatures on the planet... but without someone actually telling us, we don't know how to procreate. Hee hee. This is just plain funny. I'm laughing as I'm typing this. In our evolution and mental improvement, we've so lost touch with one of our most basic of instincts that a single rash of ignorance could kill us off forever. Fortunately, such widespread ignorance is a practical impossibility. I'll say that for the human race: we may be stupid, but by golly, we're not ignorant! About sex, that is.

There are studies done that show that babies begin pleasuring themselves in the womb. As much as we might not like to admit it, we are animals with all of the very basic urges, survival, gratification, the need to procreate. I just find it so impossible that they couldn't figure it out.

Once you get rid of logic, all you have is instinct. Today instinct is replaced with logic and what we know for a fact, but sometimes when we least expect, instinct will kick in.

What I can't believe is when people argue about this, they keep forgetting certain aspects of the story. Like, "Really religious." The parents could've discouraged sexual behavior for one thing, not to mention that pleasuring yourself still doesn't teach you how babies are made, all you know is that it feels good. Let's look at a list of possible factors based on the story:

Religious repression (Do not underestimate this!)
No non-religious friends
Strict religious parents (remember the film, 'Carrie?' )
Home-schooling, or little socialization at school
No TV
No internet (yes, people can still exist without TV or the net.)
No reproductive education. (masturbation is not education.)

All of these are very realistic. There are all kinds of people in the world, you can't just assume that things are going to happen the same way in everyone's life as yours. Some people live very sheltered lives, I've seen it first hand. That's why I say Murphy's law supports this pretty well, because with all the crazy things we're capable of, this really does not seem impossible.

Yeh, but Doctors don't know everything. You need a specialist Doctor for that.

My doctor IS a specialist, since he is about the only person who people will be open with about issues concerning their penis. Most GPs are like that.
