Well, the games are awesome but the HD remastering is lazy.

I love HD remasters cause I love old games, They deserve to be brought back and remade in current gen graphics cause most newer games aren't as good. Plus there isn't anything wrong with nostalgia.

I would love to see some PS1 classics re-mastered

I say that because of all the ugly and distracting asset stretching and tiling. The art style is as beautiful as ever, and obviously the sheer age of the game shows; that's excusable. But the increased resolution really shows how non-HD the models, textures and UI are. More TLC would have gone a long way.

What ever happened to Last Guardian? Wasn't/isn't that being made by Team ICO?

It was meant to come out at the same time as these games, but it's been postponed to early 2012.

You're just picky because of your professional high standards.

Maybe. If it's picky to want HD assets in your HD game, then sure. "Picky".

I love these games, though I wish a release date for The Last Guardian would surface...*sigh* damn your incessant teasing, Fumito Ueda!

I now own these games. The gamebox is sitting on my desk, still in its perfect plastic wrapping.

I'm not allowing myself to play it until I've transcribed my Lorne interview.

Well, if you hadn't left your computer idle, you would have received the URLs for them already.

I wanted to have a listen through them first to make sure there wasn't too much personal stuff on them. You'll understand when you hear them.

Belated thought: That's probably actually because it's being rendered for 3d TVs.

The extra processing needed to render everything twice means that image quality has to be sacrificed in order to maintain the frames per second rate. It's been a common complaint to pretty much every 3d game.

A friend of mine has apparently beaten Ico in under 2 hours on the rerelease.

He's had my copy of portal 2 since May though and hasn't beaten that

Your friend needs to get his shit together.

EDIT: And that was before I'd processed that it was your copy of Portal 2. Tell him you want it back in 3 weeks because you want to play the DLC or something. A time limit does wonders to efficiency.

I think the implication is that a game with 3D support will always be rendering twice under the hood, so that if you switch between having 3D enabled and disabled the change will be seamless.

Whether or not that’s true is beyond my technical knowledge.

It would also be daft. It's permissible to have a seam when switching between display modes.

Those mother fuckers need to make a R&C Collection, Up Your Arsenal is one of the best games I have ever played.

Also, Devil May Cry is going to get an HD collection.

I don't think that that is true, but they might not have had the budget/time to create (and/or store on the disk) both medium- and high-res textures and models. Given that 3d was a goal for them, they might have comprimised by only putting only the medium quality versions.

Such a shame the rights have been bought by another company...

I can't see Crash Bandicoot HD remasters being given much love. That series has been pimped and sold and beaten and bashed beyond all recognition. Spyro I wouldn't know about, but judging by the current direction of the series… =/

I would love to see classic Crash and Spyro remasters, but at the same time part of me knows they wouldn’t be the same.

Also, I’m kind of getting sick of all the HD remasters. Fuck’s sake, I want to see new games, not live in the past.
