We have an imagination; you didn't have to explain what they get up to…

My parents show no intrinsic delight in Oddworld, though Mum sometimes gets all cutesie when she sees me playing the 2D games for the first time in a while. I also don't know what they think of my deep-rooted love of Oddworld. I'm sure they'd like me to get up to other things once in a while.

Not exactly a bad idea if you like to sit in front of the TV five hours
in one setting like I do sometimes on the weekend.

Well, mine is a long story.

When I first got AO for my birthday, my parents laughed at it. My mother was fine with it, she even sometimes watched me play. My dad liked it, it seemed. He even helped me get through the harder parts.

However, about 3 or 4 years later, they realized that I was seriously into this thing. And they flipped. My mum told me that I must not play that game again, because it is "childish and a bad influence". I didn't give a shit. I would play it when my parents weren't in the house. My dad became indifferent to it, but he didn't suddenly lash out at it like my mother did.

So I asked my dad for the second Oddworld game. We looked it up on the Internet (he said that he would buy it for me for my birthday) and when he saw that it cost $32.00, he told me that it was too expensive. When I asked him about it, he said, "Well, if it was a good game, then I would buy it for you, but Oddworld..."

I was disappointed, but I didn't give up. Finally, I found a used version of the game for $10. He said he would think about it.

But lately, for some reason, my parents were all acceptance. My mother didn't mumble under her breath when I read her my fanfiction, "Sami's Oddysee", and when I was playing Exoddus at a friend's house, my dad even came up to it and asked, "How is it?"

So, I suppose, my parents finally accepted the fact that I am (may I say this?) a true fan of Oddworld. Maybe not approve of it, but....

Dang, I had to tell my entire life story to channel the concept of my family acceptance status to people.

Indeed.

Mum actually completed the Oddworld games (AE and AO) when i was about 3. Not old enough to play the games yet. When the X-box and MO came out. MO was the first game on our X-box. Mum completed it too. She doesn't care much for Strangers Wrath though.
Dad doesn't play it. But he said he likes the looks of it an' everythin'. So really my parents like Oddworld. Seeing as it was one of them that introduced it to me .

Oh, my dad loves it! In AO he rescued all 99 Mudokons and all 300 from AE. He just can't resist playing it. Mum doesn't like it though, she thinks there is too much gore.

1 week ban. Not life long ban, 1 week ban. Read the rules, it tells you about banning procedures and whatnot. And yes, it is good that my dad likes it, because it got me all that lovely concept art, and the good ending.

My dad originally bught me Abe's Oddysee arund the time it first came out. I think I was about 7 at the time, and we both enjoyed playing it together. My dad probably enjoyed because he used to (And probably still does) love video games. Heck, he let me play DOOM when I was just a toddler. I can assure you, I accquired a taste of games well before I became the movie buff I am now.

My mom has never been into home gaming (However, she absolutely loves arcade games, both classic and new). However, she thought Oddworld was a funny game, with some pretty whimsical stuff going on.

Fast-forward to 2004, I bring out my old Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee PC disk (Which still runs to this day!) and play it for a while. I had forgotten how much fun I had with the strategy o this 2D side-scroller. I decided to keep an eye out for Abe's Exoddus. I was disappointed to not find it in stores as new anywhere. When I was on the verge of resorting to buying it off the web (Probably e-bay), I found it in our local Game Crazy. It was used, but it only cost me 4 bucks anyway, so I bought it.

Rewind to 2002, I had played Munch's Oddysee, and it didn't have much of the stuff I truly enjoyed from the first two games, so I decided to save my money, and not buy an X-Box (Which I was surprised it wasn't on the PC).

After finding out about Stranger's Wrath, I decided to hold out until I can try it somewhere. I still haven't tried it, but I'm waiting.

When the Oddworld movie comes out, I can assure you I will try my very best to get the first showing in my area possible.

Doesn't that mean that LV gets a 2 week ban?

Anyway, my mum didn't like the game at first. Mainly because it was very gory, including the beginning of AO. Also, my dad also thought that I shouldn't be playing those kind of games.

But like my story on Oddworld, my parents bought me the game since they thought that I was mature enough to have a game like AO. My mom still doesn't like that there is an incredible amount of gore in the games, but she likes that it influences my imagation. My dad doesn't really express his opinion, but he does say things like, 'Why don't you do this' when I'm playing AO. Well, he's not suggesting to stop playing, but rather to help me out.

I don't see much difference between the PS and PC version of AO,
so I think it's a waste of money.

brace yourselves, another gaming history...

round about when i was five, dad got AE. since i was young (and in public school) i didn't care, except when dad made the sligs go "blech", or when abe farted. then when i was eight, i was digging through the old game pile, and i saw oddworld. i played it, allthough i could only get past the first few screens. two years later, i was able to figure out that AE was the second game, and convinced dad to buy me the games. mum didn't give a flying scrab $hit what i played (GTA), but dad loved it, and played with me. last year, i finally got an x-box and munch's oddysee for my birthday. dad did alot of deep thinking on the game, and decided that it was good for the brain (puzzles!). in fact, he saw the ultra value and quality of the seiries, that he made it a part of my homeschool routine! i loved it! i finally mosied over to the forums and found ultimate happieness and infinate information, (compared to the deserted chat rooms, filled with jacka$$es of course).

and that's the story of how i joi --- i mean what my parents thought of oddworld. *he heh!* -.^'

My parents don't like them because of the "gloomy and bad monsters" there.
But my sister has an other reason. When she came in room I was playing SW. In the moment she came in she heard: "Get them pants off!"
And she was shocked: "What the...?!" and left immediately.

But somehow it made me grin anyway

Edit: I endeavored to persuade her. I tried to tell her: "It's not what you think it is! They only wanted to have a look at his legs!" Well, she said: "Yeah, right. "
But I think, she knows that I said her the truth...

Lol, it was a pretty bad time for your sister to walk in on that moment in the game, or were you just watching the movie on the movie selection menu?
