I quite enjoyed the wise old words of Alf. And I have to agree that Scrabman is a pretty cool superhero name!

According to the RuptureFarms Annual Board Meeting, the company had been recently forced to pay higher taxes on Scrab Cakes due to the company being unsuccessful in convincing the Nolybab courts of this particular tasty treat's "cake status". This is a reference to Jaffa Cakes, a type of confectionary sold in the United Kingdom which is classified as a cake for taxation purposes. Posted by kjjcarpenter

Given I've never heard of a jaffa cake I looked it up then found one can make them home made.

Just need to find a good substitution for scrab meat filling.

Now someone go make me some scrabcakes!

It's a reference to this. I suspect someone at JAW is a fan of QI.

Since I was a kid, I couldn't help but imagine how tasty all of rupture farm's fictional products must have been. Although on the promotional images, they never really looked like meat products to be honest.... I mean just look at them. Paramite pies and scrab cakes look more like some weird kind of alien betty crocker cakes. When I was a kid I never put two and two together to realize they were supposed to be comparable to crab cakes and chicken pot pies. I was a stupid kid.
Hell even Meech Munchies looked kind of like some kind of delicious fruit-gummies. It makes you wonder... is the meat of these animals really so colorful? Is scrab meat really green?

They're 99% artificial components. Scrabs and Parmites are being killed just for a good PR.

I imagine, being the ill-resoursceful company that RuptureFarms was, that only a very small percentage of Scrab meat was actually used for the cakes, with the remainder becoming fertiliser, or low-grade meat, as depicted in the barrels in the opening of AO.

From what we see when they get splattered, no.

Same thing happened to me, especially the Scrab Cakes – they just look so much like they’re filled with fruity jelly, I figured they were a dessert treat.

Meech Munchies always made me think of salami though.

Maybe what the deal is, is that they just get so over-processed and treated with so much Vyker chemicals that in the end the meat turns into some kind of mutinous sludge....

One of my favourite pieces of trivia regarding Scrabs is found in this piece of concept art I found a whileback whilst trawling TOGG. The idea of these sacred and near dying Scrabs creating these spires to their deceased has always been interesting to me.

As others said, Scrabs scared me a lot when I was a kid, I still get nervous when that sound/music starts when a Scrab is near, and those screams they made. And about the sounds in MO, yeah, it was weird to have different audios for them. I remember I played another PS1 game and the Scrab's sound was there too, so it probably was from a "Games ' sounds sample" or something like that, used by developers for their games.

The Scrabs remind me of Velociraptors from Jurassic Park, I love them as creatures, I hope we get to see more creatures in a future like the Scrabs, violent killer "machines".

About the Scrab cakes, I agree with you, they seem like candies and goodies. The paramite pies and meech munchies looked more "yummy" and more like food.

I second that. Can't wait to see what Soulstorm looks like in General. I wonder if it's only Abe and the muds that are gonna look slightly different or other characters too. The glukkon though in the newly released photo doesn't look to revamped.

I haven't even thought about anything else getting redesigns, and honestly, that would be awesome if so. The glukkon in the photo does look the same, but I have my hopes up.

I just realized something. The color palettes for scrabs and paramites are switched on their food box art.

I think it's more of a triangle.

Scrabs take the green of Paramites, Paramites take the brown of Meeches, and Meeches take the red of Scrabs.

If there's one thing I'd want more over anything in Soulstorm is that they keep the original sounds of the scrabs. They were utterly terrifying and truely alien sounding to me.

..That and the removal of that spiral graphic popping up as abe chants.

Funnily enough: the ending of NnT had the right chant effect when big face teleported Abe away.

Same here the screeching of a Scrab is terrifying and to me perfect.

Well... that's if scrabs are still in Soulstorm.

All we know is that the game is a re imagining of Exoddus. But I remember some discussions last year about Exoddus being too big to be completely rebuilt. It could be that some less interesting parts have to be cut. And to be fair the vaults didn't add much to the story.

My point is: don't assume something is going to be in Soulstorm just because it was previously in Exoddus.

Too big to be rebuilt? I mean yeah Exodus was a nice good playthrough but it's not like it was World of Warcraft or anything.... If they could make the game as it was in 1998 and call it a "bonus game" they can make something with just as many levels in 2017, assuming they have the money and the time that'd grant. :\
