Like i said before, GTA is poop. Coupled with Rockstars need to shock and their constant pushing the barrier for no particular reason it gets tedious. I, personally, could live with a game that doesn't try and push the barriers everytime it makes a new game, in fact, most of the games i have don't even have any gore in or anything as extreme as what Rockstars games do.

The only reason they're famous and successful is down to the amount of ridiculousness they put in their horrid little games.
I admit, when the very first GTA came out I hired it out because of all the things I was reading in magazines, but because of that game I became a fan of the series for the actual gameplay. It's fine that people don't find it fun, but I find the missions really enjoyable. When I play I think "that was fun because it was challenging", not "that was fun because I killed people".

'Actually, it's because they are the most open-ended games ever made.'

Define "open-ended". 'cos to me open-endedness isn't a big city with a population of over [insert random number] of pixels. It's the ability to change things. In the GTA games i've played, you blow a car up, and nothing changes in the long term. Merely in the short term. Also, there's just one ending. No matter how bad you are at the game, you still get the same ending a skilled person would get.

Of course, i just have high standards that are forever going to be disappointed. But meh.

'When I play I think "that was fun because it was challenging", not "that was fun because I killed people".'

Yeh, i agree with the challengingness, that's what i enjoyed about the games i've played. I loathe the fact that once you failed a mission you had to redo it though, that really detracted from the fun for me.

Define "open-ended".
You have no limits, no restraints. A player can start a game and abandon the story missions all-together, and just explore the massive, living world. San Andreas is insane, because there is so much to do from the very start.

:
No they aren't.

MMORPGs like eve online are more open ended than freaking GTA.
MMORPG's are for only the most hardcore of gamers, and frankly, the majority are poo anyway. They always seem very stale and non-interactive. The genre has a long way to go.

Hmmm, i agree with you to some extent. I think it'd be far superior if your decisions effected the world around you, however. Something i thought would be rather thooper for Vice City, would be the Gangs that you helped, coming to help you at the end of the game.

I think once you get over the fact you have so much freedom and can literally shoot/run over/steal anything, the game quickly gets boring.

Hilary Clinton just came into my house and stole my Xbox with the uncensored San Andreas still inside it. Everybody be on high alert!

Seriously though, my Xbox was stolen the other day along with the game in question. I'm really pissed, but the console was broken anyway, so I'm not too angry. I can easily replace the console and game, but my hardrive had a ton of stuff on it that I'll never get back. What's the world coming to?

My Xbox has broked too! I'm really pissed off by it, 'cos i had tonnes of save games and some really good tracks on it!! GRRRR of the ARRRRG!!

I don't think i'll get a new one though, i'll wait for the 360 to come down in price and purchase it, hopefully my games (though some of them are hidden gems) will play on it.

Lucky everyones consoles are being broken/stolen just in time for the next generation of consoles...

My Xbox was recently broken, believe it or not. Due to IGNORAMOUS neighbours. ****ing idiots. They cut down a tree tangled in a power line. Blew my entire Xbox up.

Damn, I remember I played GTA2 and 3 for so many hours. Those were happier times, sigh

The original GTA's were so much better in my opinion. Screw the slick 3D graphics, I want my crappy 2D top-down views back!

Disclaimer: I don't really, I just miss it

Yeah, they were quite different games back then really. I like both views, but I prefer the 3D now.
Also GTA the original could have been so much better if you didn't have to pass the insanely long levels to save.

Yes. Do this. It's very enjoyable!

I prefer the 3D games now though, especially San Andreas for the vast amount of things you can do in the game. Sometimes I go on it just to play pool.

Oh yeah, Hot Coffee... I especially enjoy Hot Coffee, mainly on those cold nights. It's good to know I can come home to those hot things...

Yep, cuppajoez.
