So... uhhh... seeing as everyone ignored first post in this thread... Who orchestrated this campaign? How did they decide on RATM? Did RATM themselves promote the idea?

No, it was some commoner who tried the same thing last year but failed, the guys name is Jon Morter. After this stunt Simon actually turned around and gave the guy a job in his company for promoting the song without a budget.
RATM is donating all the profits from that song to charity as well.

X Factor winner Joe McElderry has branded Rage Against The Machine's 'Killing In The Name' "dreadful" after finally hearing his chart nemesis.
The star, who is currently 11,000 sales ahead of the Los Angeles band with 'The Climb', said he hated the track.
"They can't be serious!" he said. "I had no idea what it sounded like. It's dreadful and I hate it. How could anyone enjoy this? Can you imagine the grandmas hearing this over Christmas lunch?

Guess whos head's stuck up his arse. I think, in the time that he's been in the X-Garbage, that he's picked up some God complex and thinks that his song is oh so much more better than other less mainstream stuff.
Round of applause for proving your a twit.
