I interpret it differently: Abe frees the livestock, so Molluck just goes for whatever is convenient, which ends up being the Muds. Which is somehow even bleaker, in my mind.

That's interesting, I think it was mostly this line that made me see it as an angry "last straw" kind of move because of Abe:

All of a sudden there’s a young CEO and young executives running it and... He’s going to become very disillusioned and Abe is the catalyst because Abe screws his profits.

I like the idea there's new younger CEO's treading on his feet telling him how to do things, and then Abe just fucks him off so bad he goes off the deep end.

Kinda goes against the grain of the cool, calm, collected image we have of Molluck though. I always saw him as this perfectly evil, but excellent, businessman.

That needs to come in the sequel, following the happy ending with the destruction of Rupture Farms and freeing of the Mudokon Slaves, the Cartel now recognise Mudokon's as a liability and order a continent-wide execution of all Mudokon Slaves.

What seemed like a great ending in the first movie was actually a bad ending with horrific consequences with the hindsight of the second movie. Build up your hero, then knock him for 6 in the sequel. Story-telling, yo.

Wasn't it that Abe accidentally sets the livestock free? It makes him more complicit with Mollucks decision. I remember Lorne talking about this somewhere.

Also, according to he flowchart, Molluck is under potential serious media scrutiny at the time, too.

Bear in mind that in some versions of the story Abe wasn't originally a slave, but rather a local tribesman. It might be that Muds were never going to be slaves, and the Glukkons weren't dependant on them as a workforce.

It's not a popular order with the Cartel, but they have no authority to undermine their Queen's decision. It is their responsibility to execute the Mudokons, and to find ways of making it economically viable.

You're then left with an even murkier, ethically greyer story as Abe and the Industrialists may in places be working toward the same goal, then against each other, then together, then against each other.
They both have similar goals but they both want very different outcomes from it. It'd be an epic roller coaster where characters are constantly switching sides and turning on each other. LOST: The Movie.

Oh yeah, didn't think of it from the Glukkon's 2nd? perspective effectively being "so our slaves are now threatening to rise up and destroy our own race - we can't execute them, we'd loose our entire workforce - but oh, we can't let them live either or WE'RE the ones going extinct - I think we have to choose surviving over profit, for once"

Also, to stay on topic. I was legit really intrigued by those living-pods suspended from chains in Rupture Farms, I never really thought about the Mudokon living quarters before I saw that. I just assumed they kinda dropped down where they were working.

abe is my favourite and i like fuzzles and gabbits because they are fluffy and sometimes they crawl in your bed when you are sleeping and you think they are a teddy but it is not its fuzzles and they are cute and a good joke to play on your friends is to put fuzzles in their shower to give them a fun birthday surprise
