I take it MoxCo believes that everyone can become rich if they put their mind to it.

I can infer from that he's from a very well off family and will never go hungry or want for anything in his life.

On the contrary I'm from a lower-class family; my father has an unskilled job and my mother is a part time teacher. Both my parents are left-wing and my maternal grandparents are members of the Australian Labour Party. I am not saying I will vote for capitalism (I'll vote what benefits me most; as most do) but in my opinion it is the most fair (fair does not necessarily mean equity). I realise a socialist regime would benefit most people (myself include, when I graduate, leave home and get a job) but until then I am happy being a spectator in the world of politics.

A spectator who believes the poor don't deserve things they can't afford themselves but the rich deserve to inherit daddy's fortune and stay rich.

I never said the poor were less deserving than the rich, don't make arrogant assumptions. And I did specifically state that I support public a education so that wealth can be obtained by anyone. And do you really think everyone gained wealth through inheritance?

All I'm saying the I no one ever agreed to be taxed, they signed no contract allowing the government to take money from them. Taxation is theft, albeit for a (generally) worthy cause.

I don't have an interest in politics, too complicated for me. I just get the feeling that the economy is ruined though and I can't see how we are goona get out of it and the fact those silly twats known as the government hiked up the student fees is making things worse. Had a good discussion about it in college. Rise in fees may result in putting people off from applying, no students, no skills to be learnt which means that jobs that require certain university qualifications cannot be taken so certain services that are required cannot be done.

It is nice that people do get a fair education system reguarding school and college, but to put it politely. In my experience those who come from families with no jobs and live on benefits constantly with a great lack of encouragement don't tell to perform well in school JUST IN MY EXPERIENCE THOUGH SO DON'T GET OFFENDED

Granted, my mum raised me as a single parent on benefits, she had to give up her job so she could raise me, but I had a lot of encouragement from her and my family to do well in school and college and good encouragements on earning a decent wage from a decent job which I would get from good grades to have a decent living and stuff like that so I believe this may have added to my achievement in school which is why I came out with good grades. If I didn't get the encouragement I got I would think fuck it whats the point. My group of friends in school, all of our parents lived on benefits apart from one of us who had parents that were very rich but from what I could see, only me and the rich kid got the encouragement.

My mum become pregnant with me at 18 and it was unplanned, despite this big setback I can only assume that her parents gave her the same encouragement to do well in school ETC and she passed this advice onto me.

Put those two together, hard work pays off.

The people repeatedly elected in governments who supported progressive taxes and will continue to do so. No dice.

Dunno, but I support high taxation and I support high inheritence taxes.

The proletariat has been fucked over in every single country ever to arise since the dawn of civilised man. While I understand that it isn't fair for the lower class (which I am) to get stomped on and milked of everything, the middle class suffers taxation worse than we do and the upper class have got were they are because somewhere down the line their families have made lots of money, up to them how they spend it.

Basically life isn't fair and it will never change so just deal with it, the government hikes up university fees, I'm angry for a week then get on with life because it will never change for the better. Cameron slowly weakens and dismantles the NHS, life goes on albeit harder than it was before. You vote, it makes no difference. I will always vote once I am of age to do so because it is my duty but I know that it makes no difference.

It's the same case after every election though. I get the feeling that if somebody like me or STM ended up in power then they would just end up being corrupted like everybody else

I hope I will make a difference, if things to to plan I will become a barrister and from there...maybe an MP but the current main parties do not understand how to fix the country. I do not profess that I can at this moment in time either but I see simple solutions to some problems. It was never my abject goal in life to sit back and watch Britain fester, in some small manner I wanted to help, if not the physical country then its people. Dentist, vet, now I want to stick with training to be a barrister, are these not professions that help the country?

EDIT: @JennyGenesis - power corrupts and absolute power corrupts even more but no one can hold absolute power in our country. I think that if you have strong will and you want to change the country for the better, then you will not be corrupt. I couldn't betray the people of our country when I know what it is to be at the receiving end of government stupidity.

Well the impression I get from you is that you would at least try. I don't seem to get that impression from the current parties.

The current parties don't understand the people any more because they are out of touch. I always liked to think if I became PM I would give some of my salary into a lottery. Who needs £200,000 a year? Not us when I can get by on little over 1/6 of that.

I think it's about time a new party was created with the ultimate goal of gaining power and helping the people...with a strict set of rules and regular party speeches made by dedicated speakers.

If you don't like the way your neighborhood is going, start a community group to change it. Make yourself chairperson.
If you don't like the way your home town is going, run for mayor.
If you don't like the way your county is going, run for local delegate.
If you don't like the way your country is going, run for prime minister.
If you don't like the way the world is going, breed a giant killer lizard and take over the world etc.*

You can make a difference, if you think people will support you in the differences you want to make. Start a group and turn up the heat on your oppressors. That's what The Right To Freely Assemble is all about.**

*Or steal a Kenyan baby and anonymously deliver him to Hawaiian foster parents while secretly mentally conditioning him to be your socialist puppet as he sleeps.

**Or maybe it isn't. I'm not American, I just like to look like I know what I'm talking about.

Bull shit. A lot of people don't have the time to do all that when they have jobs and families to maintain. If it's your line of work then ok but for many, MP is a line of work reserved for the 'upper echelons' of society.

I explained that I don't think the government will help me, they don't help me and they have never done and ounce of good for my family unless it was bringing back how things were 'before' it they had been bad recently...a.k.a, less bad but still bad. I don't trust MPs and I don't like the government, I have the utmost respect for the majority of people that carry out their will like judges and policemen but David Cameron and his entourage of idiots can go and jump in front of the horses at Ascot for all I care.

I would protest, I was going to go and protest the university fees in London but my parents didn't allow me and it wasn't worth getting on their wrong side at the time. I fell that at my age there's little I can do any way.

Scrabtrapman, of course they're not going to help you; you've removed yourself from the political protests. Involve yourself in it; contact your MP, start a petition, do shit that needs doing, and they'll realise that listening to you is easier than ignoring you.

IMO part of the problem is that in various democracies such as Australia people keep voting for the SAME TWO PARTIES over and over, regardless of how incredible similar they actually are to eachother (especially when it somes to serving big business at the expense of everyone else).
