There's a lot more you can do with a portal gun.

Need an object from a distance? Sure, the gravity gun can pull it toward you, but the portal gun can place a portal underneath it, then place another portal next to you.

Doesn't the portal gun have an attachment on the end for lifting, similar to the gravity gun?

EDIT: Also it looks cooler.

ASPHD, because you look more impressive when you use it. Blasting down a wall to enter a party is a lot less sociable than emerging from it in a halo of light.
