@Max: Oh, I was thinking Mudokons, due to eggs, feathers (well, they do, in a sense...), rotund (i.e. Buddy is fat) etc.
@Slaveless: I thought Meeches lived in small packs, and focused mainly on speed to chase down fast prey such as Elums (is there really any other prey out there?), savaging at their haunches with razor sharp teeth to bring them down to the ground. I imagine they would generally avoid Scrabs, but I think between Paramites and Meeches, it's relatively even, so who backs down and runs would msotly depend on numbers, weakness of members etc. rather than a particular species being 'dominant' in a sense.
Meeches may be preyed on sometimes by Scrabs due to their fierce territorialness, among other things, so I presume that's why they have armour down their backs and those spines, to help keep pursuers at bay.
Elum have evolved horns to protect them when backed into a corner, and Meeches would have trouble in this situation. They're better suited to chasing fleeing prey down and mauling it to make it fall over so it can be svaaged and eaten.
Have multiple mouthparts with sharp teeth could help maximize damage rather than only one jaw for an immediate kill like Scrabs do, as well as the Scrab's spear-tipped tongue to 'skewer' prey such as Abe in conjunction with their beak.
The small forelegs could be used for egg/nest manipulation and more delicate tasks, or even latching to prey possibly if they hunted like raptors did, but this seems more unlikely given their general build.
Paramites, where they end up in the food chain is a tough question. Their build seems completely unadapted at tackling Elum, and since no other possible prey specie of relative size has been made (apart from Mudokons, but they generally aren't on the Paramites menu), my best guess could be working together to find smaller prey and other foood items such as Slurgs and Fleeches they could easily scoop up off the floor. More desperate Paramites would attack prey such as the odd Mudokon in packs, but generally fangs would probably only be used in such a manner in self defence when back into corners to shred the faces of possible attackers. I jsut can't see Paramites doing well against an Elum. If they were taller and could get at higher up along the legs, maybe, but merely trying to savage it's ankles, constantly running back and forth, kciking it in the face and likely breaking those finger-like fangs, I just can't see it happening.
They probably prey on other prey species about Mudokon size and weight, or certainly smaller than Elums, but since they aren't existant yet, that's the best guess I can make.
