I think what it ultimately comes down to is no-one likes being told:

"Hey, this group of people is cool. I'mma make something cool for this group of people. Oh, you're all fine people, but you're not part of this group."

Isn't it more like an artist trying to force his vision around his work rather than leave it open to interpretations? I'm pretty sure that's the problem with Braid's creator too. He has a fundamental misunderstanding about what it means to create a narrative.

I actually don't mind Fish. His cunty, smarmy attitude, I couldn't give to shits about. I don't care what he thinks of me, other PC gamers or the medium in itself. I understand that he made a statement about how Fez should be played and I understand that things change and now he might not want it to be an XBLA exclusive. I loved the shit out of Fez, I haven't even played an hour of it. I watched my brother play, I helped him solve some rooms and work out the codes. It's a game, I don't give a fuck about Fish, he got our money, we got a good game, as long as he makes more good games for me to buy, I think it's a pretty happy symbiotic relationship.

I suppose there's an element of whiny "Stop playing it wrong!" there too. But Braid's controversy was more down to the story, which is unaffected by platform.

Yeah. The guy flipped his shit because nobody interpreted his story the way he wrote it, right?

As soon as you write a story it ceases to belong to you and starts belonging to the reader. There's no wrong way to interpret a story and actual good stories (written by artists without their heads up their arses like the Ico and Sotc director) will invite and applaud multiple interpretations. The director of one of my favourite series said of it 'Every interpretation is correct.' He didn't mean they're all logically correct, as half of them cancel out the other half, but rather that every interpretation is correct in the sense that they are all equally valid.

That's all entirely true. But my point was it wasn't really applicble to Fez in this instance.

Sure it is. It's an artist telling their audience how they should experience their art correctly. The only difference is Braid's is on a purely narrative level and Fez's is on a gameplay level. both parts of the art of video games.

When did he do that? I always thought that Jonathan Blow's pretentiousness came from the fact that he developed a deliberately, self-consciously ambiguous game and then refused to ever talk about what it meant.

I recall him insisting that all the theories about the game being an allegory for the regret for building the nuclear bomb were wrong.

I never made any sense of the epilogue in Braid. I think that has something to do with the fact that I couldn't figure out how to get half of the books to actually say anything.

The mystery of the ambiguity was fun for a while, but I tired of it once I realised that I was never going to understand it. There was no moment when everything clicked and the entire game made sense. World 1 felt like it wanted to be that, but the epilogue ruined it for me. I love it when a mysterious story clicks into place and you can watch it unfold a second time picking up on the pieces you initially missed. Braid did not do that.

Fantastic game, though. I still haven't found half of the secret stars.

I think you need to take each level of Braid independantly. There really can't be any coherent story that connects to all of the worlds.

From what I understand, the inconsistency of the world is the connecting theme. It's about the pervading nature of human subjectivity. Or something.

:
There’s some level where you could say Braid is about Time. But at a deeper level it’s about going into world after world, with a rule set that’s different. Like, the laws of the universe are different in every world. It happens to be Time that changes a little bit.

It’s about looking at and understanding those new rules and those differences and doing things that you couldn’t do before, that maybe looked before looked impossible. You could make a statement about what Braid is about that doesn’t even have the word "Time" in it.

That's stupid. That only works if every world was the same and the only difference was 'the subjectivity you bring to it' IE: What you can now do that you couldn't do before.

Steam Box is definitely a thing, and definitely using Linux.

For the record, here are all the Steam games that currently run on Linux.

I think we maybe get way too worked up about the personal neurosis of the people who make the stuff we like. Unless it's Allan Moore, because he can go fuck himself, and die.

TF2 on Linux? I would of thought they would of released an update like when when the game became Mac compatible.

I could see Penguin Hats happening.

What? TF2 is Mac compatible and it has been for well over a year now.

Unless you mean that the Linux version should have come out back then, in which case you're stupid.

He means that when TF2 came out on the Mac, Valve made a big hooplah about the fact.

He is saying that he is surprised that they did not do the same for the Linux version.

I am saying of course they wouldn't because it's Linux lol

They made it pretty clear. I definitely knew when it happened even if it didn't coincide with a big update, although I'm still yet to really try TF2 out.

I thought it was a pretty big deal and the only time I've ever used Linux was on a Fedora LiveUSB when my computer died.

Valve are making a big deal about the Linux version of Steam. It's just that they're doing it in places that Linux users frequent, so you may not hear it.

useless outside battle and sports anime.
But they're recklessly trying to make a slice-of-life anime about us.

E: DAMN IT STRIKE WITCH

Well holy fuck, The Pokemon company have just anncoued the 6th Pokemon generation. Pokemon X and Y versions

Retarded Pokemon starter 1

An actual good looking fire starter.

Retarded Pokemon starter 2

Retarded P̶o̶n̶y̶ ̶t̶h̶i̶n̶g̶

Retarded, Kite dragon

Aside from the stupid looking Pokemon, in all honesty, the game looks fantastic. I've been wanting pokemon to come out of the 2D Sprites for ages now and they have finally done it.
Not keen on the names though...
