Okay so like, I don't usually talk about anime here, because it seems to upset some people, but I have to.

I just finished Robotics;Notes, the final anime in a trilogy of series. The first one I watched was of course Stiens;Gate, which I later learned about the first series, Chaotic;Head, and the last series which I just finished. C;H was pretty good, but didn't surpass S;G for me. R;N however, might just rival or surpass S;G.

It was filled with a bunch of sci-fi theories and nonsense, just as I expected/wanted, but it also had characters that I really liked, which is important to me. As well, it had plenty of tie ins with the previous two series.

Watched the South Park movie again last week. Twice. For the first times in years.

Top 5 animated movies ever prob. Put me on a huge SP kick again too, god what a fantastic show.

I watched The Amazing Spider Man 2 yesterday.

I really liked this iteration of Electro. Also the last 30 minutes of the movie were better than I was expecting and I'm impressed. I don't think the movie would have stood up to the first if it weren't for that last 30 minutes.

My only real complaint is the fucking music. There was too much of it and hardly any of it fit with anything that was happening. It was distracting and crap.

Just at the end of Ken Burns' The Civil War. I'm glad I got around to watching this, it's an amazing documentary series that anyone living in North America should give a watch. It doesn't necessarily feature any particular figure in the role more prominenetly than another, rather it paints a picture of life in the command of the union/rebel armies as well as getting into the dirt with the grunts, the families of those left behind and of course the political climate in Washington. It manages to capture a feeling, a nostalgia for an America that I never knew.

If you've ever wondered where The United States distinct modern patriotic zeal started, The Civil War is an excellent place to start.

I watched Heat. Man, what a great movie all around, went straight to my top 5 movies all time list definitely. Very intense.

I was waiting for my girlfriend to finish work at her house, with her mother and she was watching an American show called 'Judge Judy'.. I've never felt that uncomfortable watching TV. There must be nothing worse than a post- menopausal woman yelling at everyone

My brother recently moved back from Thailand with his Thai wife, and naturally there are a ew cultural differences. She was over the other day when Judge Judy was on, and she asked why people would watch it, and why it was even on TV.

Saw Dawn of the Planet of the Apes a few days ago and it was fantastic.

Very impressive CGI, action scenes and the film was really well paced. The story wasn't half bad either, it was just very predicable at times.

I would say it's better than Rise of. And you probably don't even need to see that film since Dawn of does a good job explaining what happened in the first film. (Although it is a very good film).

I thinking about checking out the originals soon. Anyone seen them?

I've seen the first Planet of the Apes, the good one. It's really good. The masks are kinda obvious but if you can get past that the story is zany but cool.

Guardians of the Galaxy. It actually lives up to the hype. I sat there laughing through the entire movie, and usually I'm the one asshole in the audience, sitting there, laughing at nothing, being completely unimpressed. It's kind of like Star Wars mixed The Avengers, except it was better than both of those things. Would see again. Would watch a sequel.

I rewatched The Truman Show for the first time in a long while. This used to be (still is) one of my favorite movies, even if it did cause me to be paranoid for all of middle school and most of high school. I can't believe I never noticed that the star actor was someone I don't much care for. I guess seeing him in a not strictly comedic position makes him seem better. I don't know his name. Well now I feel stupid. I probably am. Regardless, still like the movie.

I watched Under the Skin, a movie about Scarlet Johansson seducing Scottish men in a white van. Well, there's a bit more to it but the plot is quite thin honestly. I enjoyed it a lot though. It was very artsy and the cinematography was great, a lot of the scenes felt very real. It definitely needs to be watched a second time to understand everything that's going on, the ending kind of gives you answers to some things but there's a lot of bizarre stuff going on throughout the film. If you want to watch the movie, don't watch the trailers and don't read anything about it, iirc even the IMDb analysis of the plot kinda spoils it.

I haven't seen Under The Skin yet (I really want to) but I thought it looked creepier without knowing what the case reveals.

I recommend watching films without knowing what the plot is about if you want to be surprised more, I did that with Hugo and had a really interesting time. I try not to get overhyped about things as it usually leads to disappointment and not being able to live up to it's reputation.

The Lego Movie was good. It's a bit of a shame the last act was very predictable but then again it's really difficult to break from that traditional formula, especially for a family friendly film.

Edge of Tomorrow was really good, hopefully more Sci-Fi/Action films like this get made as they combine two of my favourite genres in a totally awesome way. Lately I've been watching the newest 24 series and rewatching Heroes (such a great show!).

Going to see Dawn of the Planet of the Apes in about an hour, can't wait.

Yeah honestly that's the big spoiler and it definitely is a lot more disturbing when you don't know that, I didn't know anything about it when I watched it and it was way more disturbing for sure. Pretty weird they'd just put that in the dvd box, would be better if they didn't mention it anywhere

I just finished the second season of Secret Diary of a Call Girl. I think there was simultaneously more and less sex than I expected, but it turns out that there's a lot more to the show than just gawking at Piper. They did a really great job of showing how Hannah's life as Belle affects her social interactions, and I genuinely felt sad during the end of this series. Something about Hannah banging her head against a relationship that would never work, while Ben secretly has feelings for her that neither of them will talk about, just really sat well for me. If anything I found it unpleasant to watch because it was emotionally stressful, which is the last thing I need with the stuff going in in my life. It all just felt alarmingly real given the tone of the show and narration style.

The narration is great though, for such a fun and sassy show. The 4th-wall breaking style is perfect, and I love the looks that Hannah gives the camera, especially when she's with clients.

An easy way to tell if an older movie recently moved to DVD or Blu-Ray is bad or not is if the synopsis on the back describes what the plot is rather than how the plot is. The difference being '...a pulse pounding, high-speed finale' being a proper synopsis and '...leading up to a battle on top of the train against his arch nemesis!' being a sign of a lackluster film. It's not always the case but more often than not it's a tell-all.
It's a weird little augur of quality I picked up working for a video store.

Anyway, kinda sucks that the box gave that away. Under The Skin looked amaaaazing but I might wait awhile and hopefully forget the spoilers before I watch it.

I can't help but completely disagree. One of The Lego Movies strongest points was that the ending had an actual resolution rather than a Disney ending; Emmett very easily could have punched lord business until he gave up because he's 'the bad guy' but instead they gave it an ending that had a lot of substance and built (heh) on the themes the rest of the film had been beaming into your brain.
Unless you don't agree with it having such a happy ending in general, a sad or ambiguous ending which wouldn't have suited it at all would have been a mistake. For a movie that investors doubtlessly hoped would sell a ton of toys I'm glad they didn't do a Transformers ending where the main character (Optimus Prime arguably being so in those godawful films) just punches his enemies to death and then monologues on how important it is that he works with his allies.

I hate movie optimus prime so much. He's an unforgivable violent murderer.

The Lego Movie was just so much honest to God fun. The story was far from perfect (though had its moments), but the journey through the different Lego worlds was what pushed it above other recent (non-Pixar) animated blockbusters. It was a nostalgic trip for some, and for others just an amazingly imaginative journey through the creative mind of a child. Some of the characters were pretty lovable, too.

Probably wouldn't have enjoyed it nearly as much had I not played with Lego so much as a kid, but I think that, at the very least, it's a great example of how a good family film should be made.

I saw Apes Good film. It didn't actually go quite how I expected (I expected the humans to start the war)

Also Guardians of the Galaxy. I really enjoyed that, and the fact that Rocket didn't look as demonic as he does in the comics, which I consider an improvement. I was impressed by Diesel's performance. I plan to see it again this Friday.

I notice that the Infinity Stones are showing up with increasing regularity in the MCU.

I just finished Samurai Champloo. I don't normally watch anime, but I wanted to watch this one because Nujabes and Fat Jon did the soundtrack for it. I watched all 26 episodes in a span of one week pretty much, it was really good. There were only one or two episodes that I found kinda dull and there was also one reeeeaaallly fucked up episode (the 22nd episode) but overall really solid series. I'm pretty sure it's up on Netflix if anyone wants to watch it. I think I might delve into the world of anime a bit more and watch Cowboy Bebop next.

Guardians of the Galaxy.

Very funny film and was just so enjoyable to watch. Pretty much every Marvel film I see leaves me feeling really satisfied.
