It's not that I didn't like it, I think my laptop broke and that was the end of it.

Has anyone read "Pillars of the Earth"?? I thought I would hate it, but I ended up loving it. It's a really exciting book.

re-reading Post Office by Bukowski. I still think it's meh, and I still feel like a sad, contrived asshole for even lifting one of his books up. At least I'm not moodily reading it in starbucks, I guess.

...I do all of my moody readings on the toilet.

Reading Roland Barthes's Mythologies, it's funny how one of the cornerstones of modern literary theory was expanded and explained in an essay about pro-wrestling.

Everyone should read The Zombie Survival Guide.
I've actually wanted to, as well as a good deal of other books in the humor sections. But damn, I just hate the thought of shelling out 10-15 bucks for something I'll knock out in a day, maybe two.

In terms of what I'm reading right now, college dictates my literary life. Got a test covering A Midsummer Night's Dream and Merchant of Venice tomorrow (a couple of Shakespeare comedic plays, for the odd person or two unfamiliar with classic staples...). Plus my mass communications textbook for my other test tomorrow, and my German textbook for my third test tomorrow... But those aren't nearly as interesting or meaningful.

Think about it this way: You're shelling out 10-15 bucks for something that they knocked out in a year, maybe two. Maybe longer.

The Zombie Survival Guide isn't exactly a high brow parody. I'd say they wrote it in a month if that.

It's okay. Lost among the many shitty Zombie books out there, most of which it's partly responsible for.

But World War Z? Man, pick up the Audio book of that if you can. Download it or whatever. I was really impressed with it.

"They" as in The one author? It's a 272 page book with a surprising amount of research behind it. No, it seems like Brooks was writing the book while working for SNL, then when he got it published he broke out.

Point well made, good sir. It's always important to appreciate the effort put into anybody producing a creative or academic work. The world needs more people reminding us of that.

Still doesn't fill my wallet though

How much would you shell out for a 90 minute movie?

Just finished Cloudworld by David Cunningham. I have mixed opinions about it primarily the rapid character decay of the briefly strong and decisive military officer Reah, who then spent most of the book agreeing with everything the fourteen year-old prince said, but mainly the Halo 2 ending. Nevertheless, now that I know there is a sequel I must get it.

Am now reading Richard Dawkin's The Greatest Show on Earth, which so far has been fascinating, hilarious and peerless.

To be honest I didn't even consider it. But that would definitely make sense... hah, goes to show how concerned I am with literary analysis.
Lol no prob, I miss things all the time WSD just happens to be a book that I'd read on my death bed and love to talk about.

Agreed all around.

Re-Reading I hope they serve beer in hell so I can be extra disappointed when the movie arrives in theaters.

Hey all I know is before Lovecraft came along people didn't associate tentacles with aliens, so as far as I'm concerned Lovecraft saved the world...

But yeah I never read the gn, it's supposed to be part biographical so they can't forget all the racist stuff. You have to appreciate him as a writer though, he was selling his works to his publisher for practically nothing yet he stayed passionate about writing, he truly loved it and I respect that.

I read the Zombie Survival Guide, well...not all of it, but bits and bobs. It was damn useful incase of zombie invasions, so...I really did just waste 2 hours.

Pretty much has good examples of why people die in zombie films, BECAUSE THEY'RE DOING IT WRONG. Srsly. Destroy your stairs and wait it out in the attic, with food and a shotgun of course. The book assumes you have a local gunstore O_o

And a whole bunch of tl;dr jargin.
