At the same party, I was hit on by a man in his late-20s, early-30s in a construction outfit while waiting in line to go to the bathroom. The conversation went like this:

Him: So, you gay or straight?
Me: Er... gay.
Him: You a giver or receiver?
Me: Um... both.
Him: Do you wanna receive?

At which point he gropes my ass and I fumble around to make up any reasons to get out of the situation and away from him. Later in the night I discover he's married and his wife was also present at the party.

I would love to be in such a situation if I could, despite myself, remain perfectly calm and explain that I was at the party for fun, not molestation, and that he can keep to his own personal space.

Actually I take it as a compliment if a gay guy hits on me, as much of an awkward moment it creates.

Same, but most men are not completely comfortable with it and all straight men have an (understandable) fear of being penetrated, Homophobic or not.

We stopped on the Oregon coast at Cannon beach, a frequent tourist destination. If anyone has seen the movie "The Goonies" then you will recognize the monolith from the beginning of their treasure hunt.

Pilot, that second image of you reminds me of Drayton from the first Chainsaw Massacre film. I think it's the smile.

And you do look like a retro style person, so I can certainly see you working in a place which deals with retro equipment. Do you know, have those old black and white T.Vs gone up or down in value? If they're not too expensive, I was thinking of buying one for the novelty of having a fifty's television in one of the rooms.

My ex boyfriend in fact thinks that I am truly some kind of creature of the night... of course at first he told me that he wasn't religious and then it came out that he was really SUPER Christian in the end. I think that CONCEPT is gay.

Yeah depending on where you are the value of vintage items including electronics is skyrocketing. Over here on the California west coast for example you'll pay a mint for good condition items at stores like the one behind me.... though portland I actually found to have a better selection of items at much lower than 'california' prices. Electronics are in a category of their own because normally they do not work due to their age and are sold 'as is' with nobody who knows how to work on them, so sometimes you get TVs and radios and stuff cheap.

England is another story. When I was there I went thrift hunting in a couple of the smaller towns and didn't hardly see anything like what I see here. All I made it out of the country with was a couple of British pressings of LPs like Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie and Def Leppard... but my impression was that there was little to no 'retro' market there yet which could both be to and against your advantage. Not to mention that a lot of old 'trendy' furniture pieces were only really available in larger cities, and have tended to remain outside those non-rural areas where I was looking... but a TV could have made it anywhere.

If you're interested I'll see if any of the folks I know in a vintage electronics forum are over in the UK, I know some are in Europe. It all depends on if you want a restored 'working' set or just a conversation piece. From what I've seen there are some fabulous looking 50s era TVs that were only available in Europe.

got the first batch of pictures back from my party a yesterday and the only good picture of me is the one without the cloak

nevertheless, for your viewing pleasures...
