Although... birds. Haha, an idea has come to mind. Remember the Abe Portal in Monsaic Lines?
Well, here's a thought. Considering how much the birds seem to just be part of the atmosphere, blissfully tweeting away until you move past too loudly, what do people think about having some groups of birds in certain areas coming together to make Abe Portals? (just to perhaps make them a little more distinct)
Not so much a case of finding heaps of birds together, but perhaps something to give the Abe Portals a distinguishable difference aside from just rotating.

I get where you're coming from, but we have to think of a way to not detract from the originality. Maybe have faint chant flicks of light/fire fly light trickling around empty areas where the portal would be. When chanting the birds can come out of those flickers of light or come to them and then fly away as they usually do when the portal closes.
But if I take the "screw the originality" approach, why not have the same fire fly lights hovering faintly around, but when chanting, reality rips open to a white or negative coloured hole where the muds escape. As this happens the background expands in the area of the portal is, with maybe small, faint heat waves protruding outwards slightly.
Also, @JAW devs, more screenshots pretty plz? :P
