But the only argument im hearing is its uncomfortable. So for me, itll be an extra hundred bucks (because Australia) for comfortability... and a feature i wont use. Ill probably only be playing pokemon on it.
Its not something Ill be playing more than a handful of games on in its lifetime. Im not a nintendo fan. never played zelda, mario, animal crossing, starfox. Ive played metroid and pokemon. Thats about it.
And even then, Itll be a ways off. So, we'll see. If the 3ds gets a major price drop and the difference is only about $50, then Ill consider it.
PC comes first, otherwise the 1 1/2 years of TAFE were a waste :P

This has nothing to do with being a Nintendo fan or not. Why would it? All we're saying is the 3DS is a lot better than the 2DS.

Whatever, it's your choice at the end of the day.

I wasnt trying to sound like I was just dismissing your points, so I felt I needed to emphasise how little ill be playing the system. (I say alot of things that the next day I come back to and go "why did I need to write that?")
Like how I bought a Wii-U solely for Monster hunter.

Anyways, yeah. This topic has gone on way too long :P

In the rest of the world they call that an air rocket, a mid-air rocket, or a direct rocket. In Aussie Quake it's a "sick middie".

:
I mostly play as Wario, King DeDeDe, Meta Knight and Bowser. And I only play single player. I don't dare play online as I know I'll get completely destroyed by some pro dude.
Meta Knight is one of my main characters. I don't play as Dedede as much as I should but he is an awesome character. I regularly play as Falco, Marth, Ganondorf, Duck Hunt Duo and Greninja. I've tried online against my buddy but not tried playing against random people yet. I like doing Classic mode most of all but I did plenty of solo ones against the cpu.

In some ways it's perfect, particularly with the custom characters. I've got Mii versions of Daryl Dixon, Gandalf and Boromir. I still miss some of the older characters like Mewtwo, Roy and Snake. 3DS XL is definitely the way to go. Even if you play with the 3D off (I only use it every now and then) it's a comfortable fit and I don't have to struggle to see the screen like on the DS Lite. I enjoyed AC: New Leaf as I haven't played once since Wild World. They made a ton of new changes such as being major and visiting other people's houses in Streetpass. In fact Streetpass in general is one of my favourite features of the 3DS as I do travel quite a lot across town.

Took me 34 hours to beat Shadow of Mordor. Currently on the second playthrough, so far besides a few bosses all of the Uruk captains are completely different and they're dropping different runes for my weapons too.

I've been watching a let's play of Alien Isolation. While it's something I wouldn't buy (linear & horror are not things I enjoy) it is quite cool to look at and is actually quite well made it seems.
Updated: It also seems a bit buggy to me... for example when you hide in the lockers it seems like it doesn't work properly (unless the players aren't doing it properly). Most of the time you just get caught anyway so it seems like a false sense of security even using those. You would think you'd be able to shoot things from inside the vent where they can't reach you (I guess that's not in for balance purposes as it would be insanely easy just to camp the vent and shoot everything that comes to find you).

Soon I'll probably be playing: Dragon Age Origins, Xcom Enemy Unknown, Hitman Absolution.

Hey Shade, there are two important things you need to consider before buying whichever system. Just two. I'll ask those in a bit, but first an anecdote: I've had all three 3DS variants. 3DS, XL and currently 2DS. Understand that I got a 3DS for free about a year ago and sold it within a week simply because it didn't suit me; I found the screens had a gross warping effect whether in 3D mode or not and it was too big to comfortably fit in my pocket. I wouldn't say I found it uncomfortable to hold, but having to adjust the angle of the top screen was irritating. The 3D effects were a complete novelty and I didn't feel like they added to anything to the gameplay in the few games I fiddled around with. It felt like the prototype for something better.
The 3DS XL is simply too expensive. If it cost as much as a standard 3DS it would be ideal, and I'd be telling you to go go go, buy one now. But I bought one (used) and traded it in later that day because I really shouldn't have blown my money on a 200$ gameboy.
So I got 110$ back and a refurbished 2DS. Now here are those questions.
A) Are you going to be taking this thing with you wherever you go?
B) Does 3D mean anything to you? Anything at all?
If you answered no to any of these challenging questions, get a 2DS. It's more comparable to a PSP or Gameboy Advance than that inane clamshell design of the 3DS/XL, you hold it differently but it's a quick adjustment. Just be sure not to sit on it, that exposed screen is child-proof sturdy but not 'support a human' sturdy.

Please no. I'm not arguing over Nintendo consoles. I prefer the 3DS. Mac likes the 2DS. Buy what you want that suits your needs Shade.

I will say however, I'm sorry if I sounded like a forceful prick in the last few posts. I didn't realize it sounded rather arrogant in them. :/

A) Are you going to be taking this thing with you wherever you go?
That's the most important question honestly. The reason why I like the 3DS more is because it folds and closes like any other DS. I take my 3DS out and about whenever I can.

I was playing last night when the largest difficulty spike I have ever encountered decided to have it's way with me. I was doing alright (or so I thought) I would occasionally lose members and would try to rotate them so I wouldn't be attached when one died. Then the mission happened where the enemy turns civilians into zombies and I just couldn't handle how much more difficult it got with that.

How dare you compare one of the most comfortable consoles to one of the least!

Agree.

Obviously Crashpunk is able to enjoy the 3DS to its full, hidden potential because his eyes weren't exposed to NEARLY as many tropical bee stings as mine, so y'know, take those into consideration Shade.

If I'm heading into the city I'll toss my 2DS in a bag to get some of those sweet sweet accelerometer coins (whatever they do) but then again I've perpetually kept handhelds at home if I can help it, so as to avoid dropping one in another koi pond.

I've been playing Cookie Clicker. Are you familiar with Cookie Clicker? It's a browser based resource accumulation game. It ranges from addictiveness from full on OCD 'Math Savant Micromanagement' and 'Check it once a day and get everything done in a few clicks'
Check it out.
Also, you don't have to pay for anything. There's no 'gimme five bucks to accelerate cookie accumulation' stuff.

Just be sure not to sit on it, that exposed screen is child-proof sturdy but not 'support a human' sturdy.
If you ever put your handheld devices on chairs and sit on them that's a different problem on it's own. With regards to A, if you care about Streetpass which is possibly one of the most unique and best things about the 3DS then you should take it with you. The clamshell design protects the screens from harm when not in use and increases it's portability.

Noted, the 3DS XL isn't cheap but it's one of the most popular handheld devices on the market (price will go down over time and when the new models come out), it also has some amazing first-party games that will not appear on another device. Games are fairly cheap, particularly second-hand or if bought during an eShop sale. Buying a console in itself is expensive compared to say buying 10-15 games instead but the question is does it's purchase grant you anything additional to what you already have? Pokemon Y, Mario Kart 7, Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Manson 2... these are some incredible games to play.

Noooo
Curse not having a computer and the ability to copy/paste so I can reply to multiple posts more effectively. Also tuch screns, so this is painful.
Mac: No and no. Im using my vita right now (cuz my ps4 seems to dislike this forum sometimes) and this thing is only used for youtube and playing games when the internets out. And at parties cuz im an antisocial fuck.
And 3D means nothing to me.
Im worse than the Japanese. Ill buy a whole console for 1 game. I bought my Ps4 for awesomenauts, my wii-u for Monster hunter and I want a Pc just for hearthstone.
So I guess im getting a 2Ds then. But getting a job comes first, so time to get off my lazy ass and write a resume. Only hope Ill remember this page when the time comes...
Job (Is that what u prefer, or something else) Crysalids (I cant figure out how to do spoilers on this thing, but its not really a spoiler ifits only three hoursin isit, and if its got nothing to do with story) are fucking deadly. They can travel really far and 1shot most of ur guys. Fortunately (or unfortunately) you will usually only encounter themin terror missions.
That only took me forty fucking minutes totype. So thts why the grammar gets a little iffy at the end.

I'm currently playing Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Justice for All. It's a DS/GBA game about Phoenix Wright, who is an ace among attorneys. It's the second game in the series. Somehow, I feel quite nice while playing this.

The game is fun, the first one is mostly a visual novel with simple logical-reasoning puzzles. The second one is much more of a game, and much harder. I almost didn't use walkthrough though

The second one is the hardest of the trilogy through faulty design (Being able to select either evidence or witness profiles). Also, frankly, all but one case is badly written. It's definitely the worst of the original trilogy.

Frankly, I do not find the idea of showing witness profiles the faulty design, for the most time it seemed clear to me from which category should I pick. There was one or max. 2 not obvious choices. I also liked the idea that in some cases you couldn't just press the witness time after time after time with no consequences rather than verbal warning.

Badly written? Well, I probably see what you mean by that, but I'd appreciate if you elaborated on that. There's definitely many 'more of the same' stories mimicking those from the first game, which isn't very good, but so far none of these stroke me as very flawed, or plot-holed. I'm so far at the beginning of the last case.

The first case was basically a rather tepid retread of the last game's first case (You'll say 'So what?' but wait until you see how hard the first case for Trials and Tribulations tries).

The second case is... okay. It's never really anything more than a chore to read. It's only the only case in the second game that contributes towards the main storyline.

The third case is awful, just awful. Dumb characters, a nonsense murder and large swathes of the trial segments are prolonged by Moe being a complete prick.

The final case is really really good. It's (In my opinion) the weakest of the original three climax cases and it has the weakness of the game not really building towards it such as the first and third game do but it tries and does something very different which you'll see as you move further through it. Far and away worth playing the second game on the strength of it alone.

But man wait until you get to the last couple of cases in the third game.

More generally speaking Fran just isn't that good a character compared to Edgeworth, her dad or Godot. I never really found her funny and her subplot is just kind of meh.

But you can't say the Steel Samurai mission in the first game was very good. It feels like a direct clone of that. And I pretty much think that both are the worst in both games. Plus I don't think S.Samurai mission contributes to the first game's plot in any way

The Steel Samurai mission, while definitely the weakest case in the first game (Though I'd ague the least weakest weakest case in the Phoenix saga [Opinions vary wildly on 3.3]) contains important character exposition for Edgeworth that contributes to his plot in the first game and also his character arc in the trilogy and beyond. It also introduces, for better or worse, two recurring cast members, while 2.3 is entirely standalone filler. Will Powers is a good character, Wendy Oldbag is not. It evens out I guess?

All that is moot however because nothing can match how atrociously amazingly bad the third case of Apollo Justice is. Like wow. I don't want to spoil it for you but it literally makes no sense.

The fifth game (Dual Destinies) is the only one with no weak cases. But you have to slog through Apollo Justice to get to it.

Well, at least Apollo Justice has Trucy?

*Presents the profile of Lotta Hart*
It doesn't. I'm so sick of Lotta now, as she's become more of a plot device than a real character, so it's 2:1 for annoying characters.

Oldbag wouldn't be that bad if after 1.3 she left and never, ever returned.
though I gotta admit, her toy blaster animation in 2.4 made me giggle a bit

EDIT:
SHIT. Lotta was from 1.4. I can't believe why I thought she was from the Samurai case. im so doomb. Fine. You won. 1:1

I've heard a lof of bad (or medicore) about Apollo Justice. Is it really that meh?

...why does it have to be the game for a console I don't own, and can't emulate? Why, I ask??

By the way, I still can't get over how inconsitent (story-wise) 1.5 DS-exclusive case is considering the second game.

EDIT #2:
:
Omg an actual animation other than 1-frame-changing poses or winking! My eyes!
