I've wondered that too. After all, RuptureFarms is swarming with Ant-Chant Orbs, so there must be some kind of latent ability in all Muds - it's just the native ones who can learn and teach others to use it.

Well for one, mudokons chant a lot and meditate in the wild. We've seen this. But it doesn't necessarily have to mean they can all posses. Maybe the industrialists just don't want mudokons to meditate and just get back to work.
That makes it more plausible and a lot more sense.

Babylon, the empire was Babylonia, the people being the Babylonian, The tower of Babel was designed to reach Heaven but God destroyed it and caused the scattering of tongues.
Perhaps Nolybab is where all species once lived in harmony but odd scattered them and set the mat war?

Hey, I was just playing MO, and in the office of the CEO of Splinterz, the OWI logo is on the Glukkons' desk. Did they just randomly put it there, or is there some deep hidden meaning?

When Stranger is on the phone with Sekto and tells him he knows where to find a Steef head for $20,000, what was he planning to do to get the money he needs, since he IS the Steef? This is something I never really understood. Why bother letting Sekto in on 'some secret' since he was really the only Steef left?

EDIT: Well now that i think about it a little more, it makes sense Stranger might say that as a lie in order to keep his identity secret. But he asks for the same amount the operation costs, as if he is planning to follow through on it some how. That part still just seems a little weird to me.

That's called cutscene-based or plot-based stupidity. It's when a competent character suddenly becomes a total dimwit for purposes of story (when he grabs the 'idiot ball'). It's how Abe can avoid capture for the entirety of Abe's Oddysee and then be captured because he went into the boardroom. (What a dumbass!)

To be fair, he'd just shut down Rupture Farms, saved the 99th mudokon and executed all of the board members, give him a break!

Anyway... something I've never been sure of: are "blind" mudokons actually blind, or are their eyelids just sewn shut? I'm guessing they are genuinely blind since they don't bother removing their stitches at the end of the game, when there's one helping to build Alf's Rehab and Tea...

It's the stitches.

From Dear Alf:
:
If they did get their stitches snipped, their poor eyes would never adjust to the light after being closed so long. It's a shame. Better to be blind and free than blind and a food product, though!

To support this:

From the old Oddworld.com:
:
Your safety is important to us at SoulStorm Brewery. With so many moving parts and doohickeys, accidents are all too easy. Which is why we take the precautionary method of sewing your eyes shut when down in the mines. We want your eyes to stay put, not to be thrown to the ground like a marble by a piece of wayward cave ceiling…and with your eye lids firmly covering them, we never have to worry about THAT happening. Thank goodness!
To oppose this:

From Oddworld Universe (not the fansite):
:
Let me ask you this. If it’s dark all the time, do they need ? I mean really need ? to see? They’re just slaves in a mine. They work by feel. If they can’t see, then they won’t notice they’re mining the bones of their own ancestors in Necrum. Besides, I’ve got a line on a profitable after-market for Mudokon eyeballs …

Interesting, I'd say Nate's answer makes the most sense. The Glukkons wanted them blind so their productivity wasn't lowered by them realising they were digging up their ancestors. I doubt scooping their eyes out would have helped to keep them motivated; much easier to just restrict their sight and tell them it's for their own good

Yes, Hazz-JB, but the question is whether the Glukkons blinded the Mudokons to hide the fact that they were digging up bones, or whether they used ones that were already blind and were otherwise useless.

This just leads us to ask ourselves why they were blind with their eyes shut in the first place.

Because there pupils are still sensitive too light, more so in some cases and the direct light can be painful, remember it is very rare to be completely blind and if you are, you can be blind white and black.

Their pupils are sensitive to light, so they have their eyes sewn shut. To prevent them from getting all that abundant bright underground mining light in their eyes. OK.

And I would sure hate to be blind white and black.

Given that tears were an essential ingredient to the brew, I would imagine that Glukkons simply took the ones who had had all tears possible extracted, stitched their eyes so they wouldn't get an infection (thus no longer being able to contribute with their labor), and put them to work on the mines 'till they die.

I think the movie aired before the game. Maybe they didn't want to spoil the real ending? Also, I believe they are brew stains.
