Currently playing through the Gears of War games in co-op with my girlfriend, which is amazingly good fun. I'm playing on Insane while she's playing on Normal. Resulting in me dying 50 times from one shot and her casually absorbing 10 clips of bullets while reviving me. Good times.

Have to say, having played it for about 7-10 hours of Shadow of Mordor it is one of the best games I have ever played. While in some ways it is quite simplistic, there are some very complex mechanics going on in the background such as the ways the Uruks fight each other and you can influence the way their hierarchy is organised. There are tons of cool abilities to unlock and use. The next-gen versions have a cool emergent gameplay function going on where enemy captains will roam around the map so you could end up fighting 5/6 Uruk Captains all at once. Take a look below if you please!

So, tomorrow, Dust: An Elysian tail comes out for ps4 and is free for Ps plus. Ive been wanting to play it for over a year but never owned a PC or 360.
So that will join my usual lineup of daily games including NnT, Destiny and Tekken Tag 2.

I downloaded it when it was free on games for gold, and then deleted it about ten minutes into the game. It was not relevant to my interests.

I've heard it's a very good platformer. But the characters completely put me off it.

Played it for 6 hours straight. Loved every, single, second of it. Bloody amazing. Its absolutley gorgeous. And the character design. IM. IN. LOVE. with the character designs. Theyre godlike. Dust, Fidget, Fuse... Every enemy design.
Also, Fidget is absolutely adorable.

Started playing Alien: Isolation today. I haven't gotten too far into it yet, especially since it's pretty slow paced, but so far I'm having a lot of fun with it. I love the sense of paranoia I started to get when the alien first arrived in the game. It's not exactly scary or anything, even in the sense of "jump scares" (to me anyway), but it's definitely gotten me constantly worried about the alien popping up from a vent and killing me instantly. My favorite part about it is probably the fact that the alien pretty much does what it wants when it enters into an area. I can't seem to figure out any sort of pattern that it follows while moving around. The fact that the save stations in the game aren't in some safe zone, like Resident Evil, makes things a lot more panicky too.

Also it looks amazing. The lighting especially.

Dust is actually pretty fun when you get past all the furry-centric style of it. I hate that part of the game, but the gameplay itself is pretty solid. I dunno if I'm gonna see it through to the end but it's a fun little game to play when I'm bored and just wanna hack n slash.

Currently I'm playing the 3DS version of OoT. Master Quest though, because I've played the original game so many times it's not even fun anymore.

It's quite tricky, to say the least. Jabu-Jabu's belly really had me stumped a few times. Especially the cows. Wtf.

Oh, I have a very slightly interesting story about that.

I tried to play OoT for my first time in 9th grade, because I just discovered emulators and OoT was a game I had wanted my whole life. But, I didn't even know master quest existed and being unexperienced in computers at the time, I had downloaded two different ROMs. I played up to the first death mountain dungeon and halfway through that when I finally saved the game and went to bed. The next day I loaded up the game and opened my save file, but nothing was quite the same. I mean, it looked the same, but the dungeon layout changed. Turned out I had played the Master Quest version up until that point, and that the two versions of the game had slightly compatible save files, as I just kept playing and then the save became corrupt after adult link.

I dont understand this. Youll play a game with talking alien creatures, but not talking animals? I dont understand why the appearance of a character would put off playing a game...
Ive never had this problem.

It's not because they are talking animals. It's because they look like the talking animals that someone on Deviant Art jerks off to.

Terrible character design, and awful dialogue made me eww gross quit in the first ten minutes.

And don't double post. There's an edit button.

I wasnt aware posting something of a different topic 24 hours later was a double post.
The only thing that makes it look like a double post is that no one replied within that 24 hour period.

I just didnt feel the second post related enough to the first one to justify it.

Ill know for future, but I dont like having 2 seperate topics within one post. Personal preferance, but if its not tolerated ill refrain.

I seem to be the only person playing Super Smash Bros. FOR NINTENDO 3DS (somehow that is the actual title) which is weird because Smash Bros. 4 is very fun and offers a diverse set of activities to smash your way through. If you're thinking about getting this but still feel wary after how clunky and irritating Brawl was, have no fear. They got it right this time. I'd say this version is as close to 64/Melee as it needs to be without losing its own style. I'm really liking some of the heavier characters, but what really steals the show are the odd newcomers. Pac-man, Megaman and Duck Hunt (or as the announcer unfortunately pronounces it, DA CUNT) in particular have a distinct and fun flavour. Despite being a handheld game there is still a gratifying sense of impact when you knock someone off stage. Unlocking every character requires playing a minimum of about 120 Smash across any game mode, or some other tedious revelry. The game opens up tons of stuff for you to do from the get go, but the massive list of unlockables (including entirely different movesets for every single character) has kept me at it since the day I purchased it. If you own a 3DS of any kind Smash is a wise investment.

oh ye, here's some fanart

I've been playing Smash 4 too. And yeah it's really great. Although it took me a while to get used to the controls. And I keep getting owned by the unlockable characters.

I mostly play as Wario, King DeDeDe, Meta Knight and Bowser. And I only play single player. I don't dare play online as I know I'll get completely destroyed by some pro dude.

Really fun game. I'm eager to try the Wii U version.

I dont have a 3DS. Ill probably pick up a 2DS (since its cheaper and I give zero fucks for 3D) for the pokemon Gen 3 remakes. But thats it. Ill play smash on Wii-u. I liked brawl a lot. I mained lucario, very strategic character. Gained power the more damage u took.
Also, I dont know if ive mentioned it, but Im a huge fighting game fan. So Im eager to get into the Wii-u version semi-competitively.

I don't have Smash 4 yet simply because it's sold out everywhere. And I want - no, need the actual cartridge (is that still what they're called?) because I'm a fucking nerd like that. It's also cheaper, I believe.

I just got my 3DS a few days ago, actually, and was pretty disappointed to find out I couldn't dive right into Smash 4 (the demo was great!), but couldn't just go gameless so I picked up Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

First time trying a game in the series so far, and it's, uh, it's adorably addicting. I don't know how much fun I'm having with it, which is an odd thing to say, but I can't really help but play it every day for at least a few hours... and it's been getting more and more interesting and endearing with each day, growing inside me like a west African virus of cuteness and charm. I'm not sure if I'll end up shelving it once I get Smash 4; it's likely considering the breadth of that game, but if I keep on playing AC I might get so into it that I couldn't bare leaving my animal friends alone in the cold. And a new espresso-addicted rabbit named Snake just moved into my town so I just gotta see where that goes!

Jesus Christ Nintendo what are you doing to me? Good game though... I think.

I used to be a massive Animal Crossing fan back when it was the DS and Wii games. And I did love New Leaf. However didn't last as long as the others. Perhaps I was drained out of Animal crossing at the time or that not many of my mates were also playing it.

I may return to it around Xmas or something. I find it's good to start again on AC when it's either a new Season, Year or event.

:

Trust me. The 2DS may be cheaper. But it's worst in every way. it's hard to carry round, it doesn't feel as good as any other 3DS and in all honestly. it's really ugly. (yeah I know, that's something I care about)

It's worth saving up a bit more for a 3DS. And if you don't like the 3D, simply turn it off.

Well all this talk about smash made me go and buy it. All I have to say is I think I love little mac. Last smash I had really loved was the original, melee was awesome, but I hadn't the console for it, and brawl felt sticky to me and just couldn't get into it. This seems to have returned the speed that was great and kept the awesome roster.

I main Dedede, Bowz, ROB and Falco, with just about every other character mixed in. Except Sonic. I just don't have the patience to roll around at the speed of sound.
I was worried about the same thing, but the online is FIRMLY divided between 'For Fun' matches (2v2 or 1v1v1v1) that have items active and 'For Glory' which is no items and every battle is on the 'Omega' version of whatever stage you're using. I've played tons of For Fun, which is 70% balanced fights with people about the same speed as me and 15% people who are abhorrently bad or 15% incomprehensibly good. I recommend trying at least a little bit of the online, as playing against other people helps round out your skills. For Fun Team Smash is what I play the most because it's genuinely fun. For Glory is where you're going to find people who are skilled at the game to the point of the match being redundant.

:

Little Mac is one of the, if not the strongest ground character, I was playing tons of him until I realized he's got really tricky air game. Captain Falcon is the best alternative, he's ridiculously fun to play.

U havnt sold me.
2Ds is cheaper, no 3d, and I dont care about looks. Also, I only use my vita in bed anyways, so I wont be carying it around. So itll be like having a gameboy SP again.

I played Minecraft for the first time yesterday. Pretty enjoyable. I was gonna eventually try it, but a friend offered me $20 to buy it if I said I would play it, and I agreed. So ive got Minecraft on PS4. Its always been a game ive enjoyed watching, but I was skeptical as to whether Id enjoy playing it. Ill keep playing it and see if its something I put down after a few days or keep playing for weeks.

Shade, the 3ds, either of them, are waaay more comfortable to hold than the 2ds. The 2ds feels like a store model example, where the controllers are in those protective cases that are awkward and clunky and you end up looking at the screen uncomfortably. I would avoid the 2ds at all costs, just save for the 3ds.

The 2DS feels like a big heap of plastic. Not a system designed for the hands. Hell, the fucking original Game Boy is more comfortable.

Again, Don't like the 3D? Turn it off. You've always been able to do that on a 3DS. It's just an option and a lot of people either don't know or forget that.

And with the price, you may want to look around. But you may want to either save up for a 3DS (perhaps an original since they're cheaper) or wait for the New 3DS to come out, which is apparently the best one yet.
