Forum Re-Design - Suggestions?

Greetings fellow forum members. As some of you may be aware, Sydney has requested that we re-design the forums. Myself and Justin (Pilot) have already discussed some possibilities, but would like to obtain feedback from members as to their ideas. I know we can't create a scheme to please everyone, but we would like to try.

Our Ideas

We discussed a forum with green and blue colors, representing the native tone of Oddworld as well as the Mudokons which the original Oddworld games are based around.

We are also going to make use of a very cool vBulletin feature called Style Sets. A style set basically allows us to offer members a couple of different designs of the forums. Members can choose which one they use as their default. One will be the main forum design, the other will be based on Oddworld-Web, to allow for integration into the site. Another possibility is to offer an industrial style set for those who don't like the native look. We are looking to impliment this after we impliment the new design.

What we would like to hear from you

Anything you want. Your ideas based around colors, characters used in the headers, etc. This is your forum.

For a natural tone... Browns, greens, blues. I think pale, foresty backgrounds would look nice. That would bring out the "nature" feel to me.

For basic forumy feel... Basic colrs. Reds, yellows, blues, maybe purples. Make liberal use of shading, I would like it

I have a suggestion though. There may be a nature like scheme, but if you ever have the time, I think and industrial Oddworld theme would be nice. Greys, pale blacks, browns, darker shades yet pale shades of red blue purple and green. City like backgrounds. I know that may be asking for some, but I know at least for me, I like to change color styles every so often, and darker colors are more calming to the mind.

To be honest i have no further requests, i personally like the native scheme, with the traditional colors, based around the Mudokons as like Abe Babe has said the original games where based around. And I to would like the indusrtial look, as you see you are balancing the to major systems on Oddworld here Native, and Industrial. I like it. thats just my opinions

No design changes as yet. We are going to wait a few days for feedback, and then aim to have a new design in a week's time.

What about adding the many different enviorments we have seen in all the games so far for the background? In other words there is a different Oddworld industrial and native enviorment in the forums background. Like Scrabania for one month and the next month would be Paramonia. Then as each month goes by a new enviorment appears on the forums. Could something like be done?

That would be interesting.

Well, i think it would be easier in spoiler and help forums:
when you enter spoiler forum, you'll see four windos:Abe's oddysee, abe's exoddus, munch's oddysee and future games (when you enter one there you can discues stuff about that certain game and in "future games" window you can discues future ones)

The same goes with Help forum( exept "future games" window)

It would be cool if in every topic e.g General oddworld discussion you would have a different back ground say SoulStorm for one Necrum for another and Parimania for another and so on.
and brighten up the boards because damn.

I'd like to see more of an industrial background. With some greys and blacks... maybe some browns here and there. But the native background sounds nice. But I lean toward industrial.

I would like to see a blue and green backround with a watermark layer of an odd world environment(s). Also, I would like to see the tree huggers at the top of the screen, Munch and the fuzzle are getting old.

I'd like to see secrets hidden in the boards. You know like a missing (hidden) link to something y'all made up, i.e.: some fan art, downloads,etc. You could put up a topic that has clues on where the link is. That could be an addictive addition to your site.

The initial main native layout has been started. I will try to get a screenhot to show you so far what we have come up with. I showed Pilot and Peter already, and they are happy with it.

So far I don't have the header done, this will be done shortly, along with some themed icons and buttons. And we are planning on having Abe and some native features. Although Munch and the Fuzzles are nice, we have had these for a while, so it's time for a change.

I see also there is a bit of interest in the industrial theme, so I will definately work on this one next, but it may be a couple of weeks later, as this one is coming along quicker due to complying to Sydney's request.

Yay! I too was going to suggest an industrial theme, with sligs on guard around the "Oddowrld Forums" title at the top and maybe some flying sligs hovering around at the top, sloggies laying about on one side and a good ol' chant supressor hovering about too

I like Sour Slig's idea. There could be sligs facing opposite directions next to the big logo... And instead of fuzzles next to the New Topic and Reply buttons, there could be chant supressors. And maybe some Sloggies hangin' around somewhere.

I almost done on completing the new design for OWF ... I need to still work on small details such as buttons and the section to the right of the header.
