It took me from Monday to today to get this finished. This is my first wholly computerised drawing; there was no pencil or paper involved in the making of it at all.
If you're interested in how I did it, I used a lot of the advice Rachel and Emily dished out in the OT art forum.
I nicked a pic off oddworld.com so I could get the head right; I find that the head is the hardest part to get right when drawing Glukkons, and I didn't reckon I could draw one with a mouse pointer alone.
Having selected a suitable picture, I saved it, then opened it in GIMP. I put a transparent layer on top of it, and traced the head's outline with the pencil tool (in red, so that it would stand out). That done, I removed the underlying layer so I just had my hand-drawn outline, then I coloured the red outline black, and drew the rest of the body with the mouse pointer (it took me ages to get the arms the right thickness and length, and it took me fecking forever to get the fingers on his left hand right).
I filled in the entire image with one single shade of brown, then used separate layers for the shading, highlights and areas of different skin colour. The eye was done with an airbrush, and the highlights and shadows were done by drawing fuzzy streaks with a paintbrush, and then smudging them.
