Anyone else think the first half of Stranger's Wrath was much better than the second?

Once you got to the Steef part and the game stopped being about bounty hunting and became more like a Traditional FPS, it felt a lot weaker to me. The enemy variety took a hit with you fighting the same three types of enemy throughout most of it (Wolvark Shooters, Semi-Autos and Grenadiers, with the occasional Sniper and Sloghander thrown in, and, rarely, a Shock Tank. While the Outlaws had plenty of Shooters, Cutters and Snipers, there was at least more variety in the types of Outlaw you fight with stuff like Mortars, Nailers, Flamers and Bombers), the Grubbs are much more annoying than the Clakkerz, the Wolvarks are nowhere near as cool as the Outlaws, blasting your way through Wolvarks and getting ammo for capturing them was nowhere near as satisfying as stealthily capturing every Outlaw you could and all the bosses alive and getting tons of money from the bounty store from doing so, the mostly-urban environments except Last Legs aren't as cool as the outdoor ones, you only fight Gloktogi as bosses until the very end which are more annoying than fun unlike most of the Outlaw bosses, and the final boss and ending are both very disappointing. Honestly, if the game would have stayed the same as the first half, I probably would have liked it much more, but as it stands, it's my least favourite Oddworld game.

strangers wrath is actually one of my favourites but i agree with you on the gameplay changing in the second half and feeling slightly weaker because of that, at least to me. i did get a bit bored during that stage because bagging people didn't really have that much of a reward since money is completely eliminated so it's all about ammunition. and yeah, i think stealth was pretty much lost. but honestly i still enjoyed it, maybe a bigger variety of wolvark enemies would have helped.

like i say it's one of my faves so i'm not knocking it really.

Maybe it's due more to my unfamiliarity to the FPS genre as a whole, but personally I loved the transition in the second half. The setting just felt so much more like the familiar Oddworld we know the further you got to Sekto's headquarters.
IMHO the two halves of the game complement each other perfectly.

I much prefer the controls in the second half of the game, and I really like the environments, at least before you hit the monotony of the inside of the dam. Also I much prefer Grubbs over Clakkerz. The one thing I do agree with you on is that the enemies are more interesting in the bounty hunting section of the game.

You must've played with the sound OFF. I can't explain this statement any other way.

Maybe because the Grubbs aren't backstabbing assholes?

Are you sure you weren't the one who played with the video off during the clakker parts of the game...?
Anyway I loved how the game flowed into the industrial environments in the second half of the game, really had an AE ambiance about it IMO.

To clear things up: I'm not saying Clakkerz don't have annoying voices, it's just that Grubbs make me want to die more

I also prefer the Wild West aesthetic of the first half of the game over the more modern/futuristic one of the second half.

I love both halfs to be fair, and I adore the transition between the two as you get a real sense of stress and never being able to go back as you run out of the village with everyone hunting you, all the shouting and destruction. It just feels right.
