Munch HD - Slig Beatin' Up Mudokon!?

I was playing the 'Boiler Room' level on Munch HD the other day and was shocked to see a Slig beat up a Mudokon. I was shocked because I've never seen it on Munch before. They used to do it on the Abe games all the time, but I'd never seen it done on Munch before.

Here's what happened, I was in the bit where the sligs are sleeping and one of them chased me, so I ran to the start and climbed the ladder that leads to the platform where the lever is that opens the door is. When I was on the platform the Slig stopped and then walked towards a Mudokon Scrub scrubbing the floor and starting beating it. Unfortuently I didn't have time to analyse this, as I, very stupidly, jumped down to stop the Slig in case/before he killed it.

Anyway, I've just made this thread to discuss about this and whether this was a glitch or a new addition to Munch HD or something.

You're quite right, I saw that too (I think in the same level). I haven't played the original MO so I can't say whether or not it is a new addition to the game.

I do recall someone (possibly OWI on facebook or something) being asked if there were any easter eggs in the game, and the reply was 'We've only added the tiniest of easter eggs'. Perhaps this was it? I know a lot of game elements could not be edited, I'm not sure if animation was one of them.

Would be great to find out what that easter egg is either way!

That'd be a neat little thing. I bet they'd have thrown more in there, but given how they weren't able to edit the 3D meshes of the levels at all, past textures, I very much doubt that we'll get anything more than these tweaks that can be added in script.

I also thought they might've added it in. I've tried to do it again by getting a Slig near a Mudokon Scrub again, but so far I havn't been about to get him to do it.

For me, it happened when I was trying to lead mudokons to the levers. Sligs were approaching so I told the muds to wait, then ran off. The sligs began to beat the mudokons, seemingly because they were standing up and not working

I remember that too, so I did a Google search for the phrase "easter egg" appearing on Oddworld.com. There was one result.

For the life of me I can't think what it is. One of the trophy names is a reference to Stranger's Wrath. That might be what Alf means, but I'm not sure at all. Maybe he means replacing the Scrab and Paramite sounds with new ones?

Only other thing I can imagine it being is one of the unlockable artwork extras, and I can't remember one that I would class an 'easter egg'.

I've also been able to do that, but the one in the Boiler Room is more like the original Abe games. When it happened with me, I had no contact what so ever with the Mudokon. The Slig just went over and started beating it. Wil, any thughts about this?

I think it happened in the original xbox version too. But only in this level. (but I'm not 100% sure).

Edit: And only with the sligs armed with baton.

I remember that happening very rarely in the original.

When I was trying to finish up my copy of the Original Munch for PC, I noticed at the very end of the game within the 3rd of the last few levels, a Slig was beating up a Mudoken.

But it was the ONLY time in the whole game I saw that, if only I had taken video or a picture to prove it.

Poor muds. Oh well, they deserve a beating just for being unable to jump. I know I slap the shit out of them on a regular basis.

Sometimes they'll jump three times, if you throw them just right >:3

Can't remember if I saw that happening. I remember sligs being very picky on when Abe was too far to attack, like if you stand on a slightly raised platform, they don't chase you. Or if you're on a ladder, you just go up one rung and they can't get to you.

That was an EPIC 16 seconds.
