I'm pretty sure I've seen these exact gun puns in another thread. God, the calibre of these threads is dropping by the day.

I agree with Havoc in the current argument, even if he posted all that shit on 9gag, you can't take everything on the internet seriously. Unless he posted all his guns, tear gas, etc, I don't think it would have warranted an investigation or alarm. Mac, I'm also not sure why you are upset about WB's apology. Sure they are a soulless corporation, but what are they supposed to do other than give a PR apology?.
I'm not upset about it, I just think it was utterly bland and soulless. I was 'deeply saddened' that we all abandoned the AD avatar trend. I am 'deeply saddened' that it's hard to find a store that sells Twinkies around my new home. 50 people getting shot isn't 'deeply saddening', it's frightening and bizarre and really damn fucked up. Among other things.

Can you guys post some examples of people posting threats pertaining to a certain date and location with the purpose of hurting many people that didn't at the very least get a glance from the FBI/rekated agencies? Here are some examples of them actually reacting just in case.

I admit that all signs point to the 9gag thing being a hoax, but that doesn't explain why you think what you do. Here are some legitimate sources that the various agencies do react to internet threats, and typically do "take them seriously." Surprisingly enough, the 'Police and the Army' have very little to do with CYBERCRIME, not sure what makes you think a regimentalized defense force and domestic security donut eaters have to do with it.

Bomb Threat: Give it a second
Some fuckup threatens a shopping mall: I love having sources

So they do actually take this shit seriously, and while this invalidates any legitimacy that the 9gag hoax has, it still makes me wonder why you boys are silly enough to think there are people constantly doing this to the point where no unique cases are scrutinized. It just doesn't happen.

Mostly because the picture you posted (or the picture I saw, which I assume is what you're talking about) falls in the same category as some rage comic shooting some person everyone hates. Or someone blowing up someone's house because they made a stupid remark on Facebook. It's horrific if someone would actually do it, but everyone assumes and pretty much knows it won't happen and that it's just internet humor.

If some guy posts pictures of himself with home made pipe bombs, a table full of weapons and names a date, location and event then of course you should take it seriously. But a picture of a movie theater with some random text on it hardly qualifies as a ligit threat. I've seen stuff more harsh on 9gag that was just meant as humor and everyone knows that.

If a cybercrime unit would spend time on every single picture or tweet that might just be some vague threat, they would be pulling double shifts around the clock because the internet is just fucked up that way.

I didn't post a picture? And it seems pretty obvious we're talking about completely different images. And again, an example of these mythical vague threat 'rage comics' would be great to have some context in what you're talking about. My point has been that when there's a sufficiently threatening scenario, 'they' will react (but not the Army or Police as they have very little to do with it), and usually a sufficiently threatening scenario is naming a time and place with intent. You are saying that people are constantly doing this all over the internet a million times a day and as such it is impossible for people to get caught, which is incorrect.
