Miscellaneous crud I throw together sometimes.

You like wasting your time, eh? Then again maybe I do have enough stuff to show here.

I don't claim to be a talented individual at all - Nothing I make seems to be original. But at least I can be creative, and recently with Minecraft at least I've had the opportunity to use that creativeness to do something that a bunch of people may get some joy out of... But that's not all I do of course. Occasionally I throw together the odd creation from bits I find lying around.

First up some old stuff from '08 when I tried my hand at basic woodwork. The best that came out of that was my kitchen workbench/table:

And I made a light table for an artist friend (Alector), to help her trace her sketches into lineart rather than lean against a window:

I've also tried my hand at animating gifs... Perhaps I should do it again at some point, it was quite fun. These are old as well - You've probably seen me use this sometimes:

I made that by importing a captured YouTube vid into Animation Shop Pro and doing something complex with screencapping every frame, importing the images into MS Paint to crop and sequence them, then making the animation out of those. And that was before I found an easier way of doing it...

Then I made this for an old friend, out of one of her comics she drew once to do with a demonic character killing a chav - The making of which involved using layers in photoshop, moving them pixel by pixel and screencapping every frame... lol. Lots of work. But worth it at the time:

I even made a storyboard to help me with it.

More recently after playing around with stuff I had to make for the Oddworld Minecraft video, I became better at doing things in Photoshop. So occasionally I throw stuff together in that, too. Like my Skyrim post card for the Skyrim thread which nobody saw:

I've also used Photoshop to glorify/add more personalty to my World of Warcraft character (both for a forum avatar and for an entry to show off my unique armour transmogrification) using images imported from WoW model viewer, combining them with screenshots and adding effects/props:

Hm, maybe I should actually do something useful with my creativeness. This stuff isn't so much.

I could really use a light table. Can you make me one?

It's really quite simple - All you need is a beam of 4x2 wood that you can cut into 6 parts - 4 for the frame, another 2 for the legs - and 2 narrow slats to hold the glass in place, and some greenhouse glass that you can cut to size (or build around). Then you can either duct-tape the glass down or use glue - actually bother to build proper framing for it if you're feeling ambitious.

Then you'll need a long bracket or screw or something to mount a clip-light to, but they're easy to find. Or you can actually fit the thing with a small florescent light bulb attached to the frame. But I did make mine with parts I found lying around.

Wow, I really liked the light table! Incredible. And I saw the postcard in the Skyrim thread, not sure if I gave you +rep, but I'll give you some anyway for the table and gifs (which were freaking hilarious)!
Your workbench could probably do with some paint or varnish
Good work anyway!

That's easily solved. :P Photography is fun. Why not use that as an excuse to try a new hobby?

Thanks - And yeah it got varnished after I photographed it, with clear floor varnish. Nearly 3 and a half years later and it's worn off for some reason... Guess I should buy proper stuff for table surfaces next time. You'd think floor varnish would do the job though.

That picture has an uncanny resemblence to the start of every single Minecraft experience: workbench in the middle of nature. Nice craftsmanship there, Edd, well done.
