Since I thought it deserved its own thread rather than me posting stuff in other areas, who here has tried speedruns or least portals runs? I have been playing Portal 2 in challenge mode for a couple months, and I've even cropped up with world records on it.
Here is a video of me getting the least amount of portals possible (currently) in Course 1 of the co-op courses:
I'm pretty sure some of those are improvable still. If you wonder how I gain quite alot of speed it's because bunnyhopping exists on Portal 2 but there are alot of other glitches and tricks used to traverse levels quickly and with less portals.
I play a little bit of Quake 3, so I can strafejump fairly well. I dabbled in Quakeworld for a while, but I could never get the feel of bunnyhopping. I'd tried some stuff in Portal 2, but to little or no success until today.
Upon watching your video I did a little research. I read some stuff and ended up getting a little bunnyhop going. I was so proud.
In regards to binding +jump to mwheelup, I just find that awkward an uncomfortable. I'd sooner use mouse2, but my heart truly lies with spacebar.

I prefer the mouse wheel in Portal 2 because it frees my left hand alot more for movement, but it's easier to land a consecutive jump. The problem with this is I have +use bound to mwheeldown for when I want to actually hit a button or grab something from a weird angle or through walls (since mashing E can be a bit unreliable at times).
If you look in the video I posted, you'll notice it took around 10 minutes to finally get the jump to work correctly in the second chamber (Buttons); the gap is rather annoying to jump as you have to press the button as well...it'd probably be easier with space bar but I'm too used to the mousewheel now. You used to be able to bind +use and +jump to the same button but I wouldn't do that, too many instances where it's not useful and it's kinda annoying.
Anyway this video will show some glitches with funnels (harder ones to perform):
I'd mess around with it more but I'm getting a new computer in a week-or-so and sometime after that I'll invest in some Razer gear, at which time I'll re-evaluate all of my key bindings and sensitivity settings. Learning to do this is on my list of things to do with my new rig, seeing as the framerate stuttering on my current machine is a bit of a setback.
