Both front-end and back-end development. Can't create a design in Photoshop for shit, but I can take a design and develop the front-end with it. Back-end tends to be less flashy and more functional (duh).

Any particular reason you hate it? I find it quite interesting, the space is always moving. With greater HTML5 and CSS3 adoption, as well as better JavaScript engines having become more common-place in the past two to three years, I've been spending more and more time on my front-end development. Not to say I don't keep up with the back-end, PHP5.3 was sweet, and PHP5.4 has some more goodies coming that I've been dying for

Unfortunately I only get to use the latest technology when I freelance - due to the constraints and viability of upgrading commercial applications. Never the less.

At the moment I'm trying to decide whether to learn Python, or Java. So difficult!

Alcar...

I do freelance design work for bands, sell paintings and toys occasionally.
You have the job I want. Though you're probably going to tell me that I must have quite low aspirations or something.

I currently work in intense 1½ bursts, then longer periods of less intense work inbetween. They're called exams. Probably going to get a Saturday job or something when I'm done.

I like turtles.

Also I am unemployed; getting a job would mean losing my valuable procrastination time.

No. It means when you purposely put a delay something. Example. If I was procrastinating my homework it means that I am just putting it off till the last minute.

Not surprising when you apply for a job everyone and their dog can do. Not to say that's your fault, but that's the downside of early starter jobs.

@STM - You're doing a good thing with the bee-keeping. It's unfortunate that profit can't really be made from it unless your honey really is that spectacular - One of my friend's families runs a self-sufficient small-holding to sustain themselves by living off the land. They also do bee-keeping on a moderate scale and sell off the excess honey, building and maintaining their own hives. However, it's a fuckton of work, and they told me that the only thing that makes it worth doing for them is because they're doing it primarily for themselves.

As for me, I work one or two days a week doing cash-in-hand gardening or handyman jobs for friends alongside my Uni work (when I'm not procrastinating, lol). The trouble with my skill-set is that I seem to be able to do almost anything, just not to a professional standard, nor do I work very fast - but I'm cheap and get the job done. My friends understand this, and tell me that what I do is better than a job not being done, and they get what they pay for, which is true.

However, as an honest man, I would rather they employed professionals to do a decent job beyond my skill-set even if they would charge 5 times as much. Still, money's gotta come from somewhere so perhaps I shouldn't complain too much. And I don't make much money so I have to live below my means just to make ends meat.

actually, pretty much this. you might be absolutely fantastic at the job, but because so many other people have applied for that position, it would probably end up being filled by someone less competent. more to do with pot luck in those instances.
