FRAPS and Stranger

lol, I'm making a topic on the help forum. Who'd have thunk it?

I seriously doubt anyone here has ever tried to do what I'm doing, let alone can give me advice, but I'll ask anyway. Has anyone managed to get the latest version of FRAPS to run with Stranger? Even when I try and take videos at the lowest settings, the game ends up slowing down to 1 frame every 10 seconds for some reason even though I have a 6 core with 4 GB of RAM. So it's obviously a program issue.

The funny thing is that on my old PC I used a version of FRAPS from 2005 that just about worked with it - It's a shame I've lost the install files for that.

Upgrade your latest drivers? Or maybe even buy a new graphics card if you're not totally brasic.

I'm currently borrowing a 3 year old Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT off a friend - But it's fast enough to use FRAPS with WoW and pretty much any other game at a decent framerate. I will be upgrading it later but I'm not sure it's anything to do with that considering FRAPS worked with Stranger on my old, much, much slower computer (although I did have a Radeon - Perhaps it's an Nvidia issue).

What card do you have, Crashpunk?

Radeon 5650 1gb of VRAM

If that can do it yours defiantly can. The video was recorded the day the game came out so I had to run it at 800x600.

Of course Fraps wouldn't record AO/AE because they don't render anything. Fraps can only record games that render 3D material.

But AO/AE is made from 3D models put into a platformer. And I've recorded other similar games with FRAPS. I've recorded complete 2D material that I myself have made in GameMaker ...

Just because AO/AE were originally 3D models put to 2D, doesn't make them 3D in-game. Plus, Gamemaker doesn't count as they're not proper games if you know what I mean.
Stranger probably runs differently to other games and it's much newer (the port) compared to AO/AE.

Most of the stuff made in game maker is simply 'programmed' by dragging and droping words.
It's like saying scratch is a proper game maker.

Yes, it's still a .exe file, but what I was saying was, the port might have been built differently since it was originally for xbox.
Also, FRAPS doesn't just record those types, it records GZDoom with the OpenGL renderer switched off.
