Game-breaking Issue in Abe's Exoddus

PC version of Abe's Exoddus

I am stuck in the Mudomo vault where the first sack of meat is. The meat falls right on the ledge, so pressing down will just make Abe hang from the ledge, and won't make him pick up meat. The 'crouch' button (formerly the crouch button, now the roll button) makes Abe fart. And I need the meat to continue the game!

How do I crouch to pick up the meat?

Crouch next to the meat and press the "pick up items" key. Ctrl, I think.

Indeed it is control. You can also finish that section without the meat. I've forgotten how this is achieved, though.

Or sit down using the X key.
