Wired concepts and depictions of my crazy being -->

Hai!

I never truly believed that I will get back here to seriously post something. I must have forgotten the old times when I used to spend most of my time in these forums, roaming around. But time changes and so do people. Still being a hardcore Oddworld fanatic, I recently sat down to play AO again in one go which threw me back here.
This is not a topic based on Oddworld related fanart because I think I won't have time doing any for a long time although I really wish it. This is mainly a small glimpse for you to show you that I'm still alive. x)

For the ones who don't know my gallery, I'm spamming you with some of my picturrz nao!

Seriously, I don't know where to start. Let's start with the main character of a graphic novel on which my fiancé and I work at:

Myre:

Done in Photoshop, based on a traditionally drawn sketch.

sketch concept:

Whilst I'm at it and I need to get into the flow of submitting piccies in here and not to run you over, I will just introduce you to some landscapes apearing at the graphic novel:

For the ones who are interesting how I created the piece above I made this:

And the most recent picture of Myre:

My newest picture which I finished yesterday. It's an entry for the MMC 13 artshow in Germany with their rather steampunky theme. ; )
This has NOT been done with Photoshop. It's all on real paper done with real paint and crippled fingers. Haha

That should be enough for now. xD
If you have any questions, just ask

Thanks much for looking and see you later! x)

This is incredible. I always loved your art. I noticed the steampukishness too, hahaha. The mammothy creatures carrying the towers reminded me of Howl's Moving Castle a bit. I hope this becomes a smashing success.

Is it possible to post the novel here? Or at least can you tell me what the novel is called and what it's about?

And also, the last pic, what is that about?

Your work is just inspiring! I love the creatures you have drawn - they're adorable and interesting too.

That last picture is my favorite, for certain. And of course, the landscapes. :3

Oh hai, so many nice comments here. I'm happy to see some old faces and some new ones, too. I feel quite comfy here as well so I might come back to share more art.

@enchilado:
Thank you very much! I feel honoured. ^^

@Scrabtrapman:
Thanks a lot! I used to draw a lot of Oddworld fanart and really would love to do it again when I got more time for myself and personal artwork.

@used:
Thanks much! I'm quite fascinated about all the Steampunk themes out there. I think it's getting a new addiction for me. Howl's Moving Castle is one incredible movie and I really love how it moves. It somehow has something very steampunk-ish, too. ;D

@Q-Ball:
Thankies. Fog, clouds and water are elements in pictures that neither like me nor do I like them. Hahaha. Seriously, they can be a pain in the bum to paint so I'm rather happy you actually recognize fog as fog. xD

@Max:
Nice to see you again!
Thanks so much for your compliment. I make a living with my artwork these days and hope to be able to reach further into the game or film industry. *dreams along*

@Splat:
Thanks a lot!
No there is no publication date yet because my partner and I are still working on the concepts. Unfortunately I don't have so much time drawing for the comic as I need to work on other paintings as well. It's quite tricky and hard work. ^^
I will keep you updated though.

@Ghwan-Thwei:
I think I will post a couple of pages here and anywhere else in my galleries and website. I won't make an online graphic novel but I hope to be able getting in touch with a good publisher.
The last picture is for an artshow at a convention in Germany and will be for sale there. That's part of my private works. ^^

@Lacy Hemsmire:
Thank you very much for liking my artwork. The last one certainly was a first for mebecause I worked with airbrush the very first time and risked destroying everything because the masking tape hated the paper. :/
But in the end, everything went perfectly fine.

__

Time for a new picture:

"As with so many things, the world had come to its end.

The last battle was a quiet one, fought in no more land than a wolf might wander in a day. It was not fought by deities, it was not even fought by warriors, but by a single, vulnerable friend.

He had fought for her before. He had fought because the whisperings of good told him she would make a difference.

Protect her, they deigned.

And though this was said to nearly a dozen, only Zal remained to fight for her. Where others had faded to the black or fallen with despair, only he had stayed at her side.

The world had come to its end. The Taer, its body emblazoned by the apathy of billions, fueled by ancient fears great and small and the nagging of death, decay, and destruction, descended towards the final light.

Zal's paws clutched the grit of earth; his tail swept the cliff's breadth. The world was ending, and his was the only body left to stop it.

He would be the one to die, so that when the world ended, she, at least, could survive."

Manojalpa requested a massive commission by me in which her character Zal guards a silver apple sapling from the terrible darkness that forces every light creating power to dim.

This was one of the largest and most complex paintings I have done so far and I never thought I could finish it in such a short amount of time. I'm still thankful for the ones who really stayed 10 hours watching me stream. Haha. You're simply awesome. XD

All in all, including the sketch, I worked about 30 hours on the image. I tried out to not concentrate on small details so much but on lighting and colouring which will create the most important aspects of the painting in the end.

The original file is about 4500 x 5600 pixel on 300 dpi.
There is a better description coming very soon.

I must run out and do some mosaik simply for enjoyment. XD

Thanks a lot for looking!!

Haha omg I'm really bad with updating pages outside my galleries. x)
First off, I will go to the lovely compliments that were given to my artworks:

@Dipstikk:
Ha I remember the time we worked together. I can't simply do a sketch as I'm a fulltime freelancer and earn my bread with painting piccies.
Thanks a bunch for the compliment!

@Scrabtrapman:
Thanks, man.

@Ridg3:
How awesome! It's always great to see someone use my pictures as their desktop images whilst I never do that with my own works.

Time for some new works.

A character design for a private commissioner. I had to redesign his anthro dragon and make it feral. What a shame somehow because the anthro design was rather awesome!

"Last Stand" - A book cover for a novel.

And the last thing for now, a two page-spread for a comic project called "Red Lantern". I do all the sceneries and backgrounds whilst my collab partner adds all characters. This scene entirely was realized by me:

Thanks a lot for looking by! <3

I'd like to say that it's been a real honour to watch you draw these things - I can't say more here than what I've already said to you, but keep up the good work, your drawings really are something. Your reputation is definitely well-deserved.

Thanks a lot. As long as you don't suffocate in all the work in progress-shots I constantly send over, I would feel happy to keep on going like that. I've become a lot faster than I was so WIPs are something I keep forgetting about quite often.

I'm glad you enjoy the paintings! :]

Is it just me or does her work remind anyone else of Raymond Swanland's?

Also Alector how do you make these images (are they hand drawn and digitally coloured etc)?

Yep, I told her that before too. When I remember right, she said he's an art inspiration of hers so maybe that's why. Not that this is bad, I meant the thing I said as a compliment because I also think Swanland is a great artist.

From seeing some of these works, I think Myre promises some epic scenes like in Lord Of The Rings, I still can't wait to finally see a few pages. c:
