Need help with MS paint copy and pasting!

I am trying to copy and paste objects from one ms paint to another. I put the selection box around the object, click on copy, and paste it into the other picture. But when I do this the object has a random white border around it, despite having the transparent background option on.

I have put a word document with a picture below to help to explain my problem.

Don't save the file as a jpeg before copy-pasting. What you've got there are some compression artifacts.

Keep it as a BMP.

Nope, even as a BMP file it still happens.

@Ridg3: I am using Windows Vista.
@enchilado: Yes, I am using MS Paint.

Again, I put a few word documents to help explain exactly what I am doing.

Look at number one first of course.

Ah, but it's starting off with a jpeg file, so the artifacts are already there. You need to start with the original image before the pictures were cropped.

How do I do that? Does it mean that I have to crop all of the pictures again?

Yes.

Or you could use some other paint program that has analogue fill (ie it fills in all of the specific colour and all similar colours).

Check out GIMP and Paint.net.

But I don't have the original image before the pictures were cropped...

Looks like I have to do the whole thing again. Should get it done in a couple of hours, and I'll make sure that I SAVE IT IN BMP THIS TIME!!!

Reread my last post, I've edited it.

Also, you could send a PM to some of the guys who are good at creating sigs. They might have some advice.

That's not what I mean't, I meant that the MS Paint version on Windows 7 is a lot more photoshoppish than it ever was.

photoshoppish=better than usual.
