Question Computer Technical Questions!

Here's one: I wanna buy an OCZ Fatal1ty 700W PSU tomorrow but I need to know a few things because I've bought components in the past that I couldn't use for ridiculous reasons but I won't get into that now.

Firstly, am I safe in asuming that the PSU will fit in an Antex Three Hundred case? Does anyone know how long the 4-pin CPU cable is, because I had an issue with a previous PSU where the CPU cable couldn't quite get to its socket on the motherboard because it's in a stupid place.

Secondly, does anyone know if it'll work with an i7 or i5 CPU and their respective motherboards? Also, what kind of connector does an i7/i5 use, a 4-pin or 8pin? is a 4+4pin the same as an 8-pin?

THIS IS AN ODDWORLD FORUM, NOT TECH-SUPPORT.
EDIT: seriously, you can probably find this on some other forums geared around this stuff. Remember, Google is your friend.

This is also off-topic discussion. There's a thread about sex, there can be a thread about technical support. I assume that since this entire forum is dedicated to a series of video games, the more senior members might have a bit of knowledge about this kind of stuff.

I'll admit, you might find someone here who can help you, but your way better off looking on some other website.

The Antec Three Hundred has an unusual layout, with the motherboard being mounted on top of the power supply, which sits at the bottom. I never thought this was a great idea because this will necessitate a lot of power cables to be run over the expansion slots, and most standard PSUs will run short on cabling due to this.

According to the technical drawing on the Fatal1ty supply, most leads lengths are 36"; CPU accessory power lines 24". Two feet is plenty of line. No problems with this case/PSU combination. Technical drawings are here.

i7 and i5 CPU both use 8 pin ATX aux power connector, so you're good.

Oh, get off it, Mr. Odd. Let's talk about religion and politics instead. After all, this is an Oddworld Forum.

Thank you pilot, that pretty much answers my questions. I hope other people will make use of this thread before it gets Necrum'd because I didn't just make it as a "HALP ME" thread for myself

What if he were to phrase his question as "I have an absurdly strong fetish for practical computer features. I'm going to upgrade tomorrow but I want to make sure my new sex toy is as powerful and useful as it possibly can be, because if I assemble it (oooh yeah) but then realise that my mate has a hotter box, it will kill my boner. What do you think?" ?

Almost every modern processor these days uses 8 pin CPU connectors. And yes, 4+4 is the same as 8.

honestly, that's 3 threads in the past week or so asking for some kind of technical support. look on the internet for help, or PM Pilot. sure he wouldn't mind.

really. its okay having one or two, but people always have to push the fucking boat out and make a dozen different threads, then another rule is passed banning such threads and we end up restricted even more. do it in bloody moderation.

And of course this has nothing to do with the OT Mod election.

Of course I know the election is a joke. That's why it's called a 'Mock Election'. And about my last post, I must say JOKE.
