Stuck in the Scrabanian Nest

Hello - like Abe uses to say -

I am stuck at the end (I suppose) of the level "Scrabanian Nest" from "Abe's Oddysee".

I have found a walkthrough-video of how it should work, but it doesn't in my case:

At 2:06 you see Abe running and instantly rolling to escape the slug. But it's impossible for me to do so: Everytime I change from running to rolling, Abe breaks like a Cartoon-Charakter before he kneels. And that costs to much time, the beast gets me then.

How are you doing the roll? Are you stopping, pressing down to kneel and then moving onwards? What you should be doing is pressing the X key (assuming you're playing on a PC) whilst running to immediately roll in the same direction.

Well the X button would work on PS1 also.

i got stuck at both mudanchee and mudomo ender before i found out the insta roll now it just helps me dodge bullets and mines

No it's not. If theres a slig in front of you and no ledge above you, your fucked.

It does help you if there's a tunnel to roll through, so that you're safe on the other side of a wall.

That dosent work in AE though does it? I've been shot many times on the other side of a wall you can roll under, or am I wrong?

Some tunnels seem to protect you, others not.

When you're under the tunnel, you can be seen and killed. If on the other side, you're safe.

At first, I also tried to do the former at places like the Mudomo Ender. Imagine that. Then I figured out the X button, but I did not hold it, resulting in Abe running into one of those stalagmites you're supposed to roll under. So yeah, hold it until you want to run again.

Rofl, the only cheat I've ever used was Invencibility (Exodus) to play the game in total rush once. =P Well, obviously, it's pretty hard to Dodge Bullets, even when you use Run Jump. You need a precise timing to do that. Rolling never saved me, unless you go on a Tunnel. For instance, in Oddysee, there are some tunnels that don't protect you from bullets. Still, it's kinda fun in Exodus when you just sneak up behind a slig and prevent him from shooting you by slapping him. Now, that's utter fun. =D
