No. Either it's a bug in the counter that keeps track of the number of muds saved OR it might be that there actually are more than 99 worker muds in the game, as an extra-secret secret. I suspect the former.

I recently discovered a way to get over 99 Mudokons which may explain this.
My sister was playing and accidentally managed to save 102 Muds!
She pretty much knew where all the secrets were from watching me play.

When she was in the Paramonian Temple (in one of the rooms), she went into one of the secret areas and saved the 3 mudokons there. She then left the room without pulling the flintlock, meaning she had to go back in. Everything in the room had reset, and the mudokons were back. So she saved them again.

You can probably work out what happened; she had effectively 'cloned' mudokons.
I would assume it's possible to do in any room with a flintlock in it. So that means rooms in the Paramonian/Scrabanian Temples, and in Zulag 2 and 3.

Wow, so effectively you could save an infinite number of Mudokons?! That's awesome

Yeah! Although I don't know what would happen beyond saving 999, I'm not sure if the counter goes higher than 3 digits.

Good luck with doing that without going stir crazy, accidently failing somewhere in the late 800s would be sadistically pleasurable.

You'd have to do it about 300 times, but it's not too harsh. It will be easier with ddcheat and some Mozart playing in the background.
