It’s exactly the same as using the noclip cheat in the full game, but be aware the comment to use is not ‘ddcheat’ but ‘it_is_me_your_father’. This thread should explain it all for you.
I have not heard of this? Is there any point in using noclip in oddworld games? sigh* I dont see the point in using cheats in games. I takes away the gameplay especially "God mode"
You can say that but there are some things that you cannot accomplish by cheating alone;
- Finding all the secret areas
- Getting the mudokons to follow you without being sliced/blown up/etc
- Rescuing 100% of the mudokons
- Dealing with non-Slig enemies (even though the sligs will laugh at you when you are using noclip and got shot, mines, grinders etc will still kill you).
Besides, there are various levels of cheating in games. Granted it somewhat breaks the game, but it doesn't make the game too easy really when you think about it.
Which uses Cheat Engine 5.5. He is talking about the demo version of Abe's Oddysee for the PS1 version (i'll explain below).
Now, to do this you would need to search for a certain number, possibly 00B3F53A or the value he types in and change it to the one he changes it to. The video basically shows this.
This is also done with an emulator and therefore isn't the PC version but from a demo disk from a magazine most likely. You'd need the exact same demo and emulator which can't be provided here.
There probably is a way to do this on the PC version but I wouldn't know the hex values or anything.

You're missing the point. It helps you to find a little more out about the game, and can be fun. I'm sure most people here wouldn't use the debug mode when playing the game seriously.

Both videos are very cool. Finding out areas which you cannot access in normal gameplay. I found it really nice to watch but it wasn't that impressive :/
Debugging can be pretty funny sometimes. I remember I used to do it with the Sega. I used the Game Genie. Sadly I don't have it anymore. Sold it.
