An art thread.

I'm terrible at coming up with witty and clever titles for art threads, please bare with me. At the moment, the only things I have to show are sketches and doodles, for all my completed pictures are on my other computer and I have yet to transfer them to this one.

This here is just practise of Slog anatomy. I've been having trouble figuring out how the jaw closes and how the feet are structured. Any tips, advice, or anything you guys would like to give?

Edit- updated Slog sketch.

look at the pictures from Togg:

or go to oddworld.com

there you can find good references (because you said that you had trouble with the jaw and feet)
anyway keep up the good work

Oooh that's good. C: I agree with Scipionyx on the legs, as slogs are real squat and stuff. But it still looks good to me.

I love the jaws. It's hinged but it's the top jaw that opens, while the bottom remains stationary - unlike us humans, who have a hinged lower jaw. C:

I hope ta see more. <333

I fixed up the Slog a bit, thanks for those references! They were very, very helpful.

I'm not planning on doing much more with that particular sketch as it was just anatomy practise (very odd anatomy I'll give you that), but this one I want to color. Seeing as there was only one actual picture of a Meech to use for reference, this one was rather challenging. I realize the body's too long, and there's too many plates on its back, but that'll be fixed when I go to color it in. I'm going to use the information given in this forum, but I'm going to color it differently than SligStorm.

Oh, but I am debating whether to open its mouth or keep it shut like it already is.

Hmm... seems I haven't updated this page in awhile. Might as well do so now, right? As I recently stated in my blog, I got into painting using water colors. Sorry about the terrible quality, I had to use a camera for this due to my lack of scanner.

First, these were just a pure test. Some grapes, nothing big. I ran out of red three quarters of the way through it, so thinking fast, I finished it with blue because obviously blue makes for a perfect red. Also, those white spots were supposed to be highlights. They look like crap and I'm not going to mask anything anytime soon for just that reason.

Awhile ago, I was mixing colors to get used to mixing water colors. It's far easier than oils, but it dries out so quickly. I kept having to remix it, and each time I got a different shade of green. The first green I got made me think of a slig, so I thought I'd try it out. The green ran out too quickly though, so as an alternative I used it as practice for the mask. It's very difficult to get a glowing effect with water color by the way. I realize the "tentacles" are too long, but there was nothing I could do about it.

And last but not least, I wanted to attempt a full body scrab with no reference just for the hell of it. I think it turned out pretty good, but better in reality obviously. That green thing is supposed to be a cactus.

Oh yea, and I decided I didn't like how the meech was turning out so I restarted it.

I really like that Scrab, it looks like how I imagine a juvenile. Keep up the great work.

Nice drawings. It's funny seeing a thinner scrab.

The leg structure on the scrab is quite nice. The blue in the grapes fits very well.

I REALLY like that scrab painting! I don't know what it is, it has a certain consistent style to it that made it feel very real and professional, like something you might see on the wall in a restaurant.

Great art, and I hope to see more paintings.
