DivX Help

I recently purchased a new Abe's Exoddus (Replay) for the PC for experimental reasons. DivX is installed, and my computer apparrantly has all of the necessary video codecs, and yet the cut scenes don't play. Okay, this isn't that important, but it's bugging me quite a bit.

Can anyone think of what the problem might be? I've tries re-installation, so I certainly know that that won't work.

The codecs are installed onto the computer, and are not part of the game, so I assure you that if the videos could work, they would even with the codecs on the computer.
Thank you anyway

I can't spot any tell-tale signs that you'd usually get if it was a copy apart from that the screenshots on the back have had blocks of colour removed, so it looks unclear. Are the discs meant to have an indication such as 'disc 1' or 'disc 2' on them, are meant to be in colour? I want to first establish that it isn't a copy.

Sorry for double-posting, but I'd like to ask a question:

should you be able to play the game without the disc in? Because even if I have my disc inserted, it says 'please insert play CD'.
I'm started to think that I've bought a copy, despite it being under the Replay release.

EDIT: I've established that it isn't a copy - the second disc works perfectly. I wonder if I should try an installation with the second CD and see what happens with the first CD, or if it's just the first CD that's faulty.
