Happy How Annoying

Why would glukkons, like in the first secret area of Necrum (set in slig Barracks) put their mudokon workers under mine/meat saws, they are only gonna get killed right? They would just be losing workers.

Yeah but its all about gameplay its a challenge to see if your brain is working and to make the game a bit harder.

Heh, I only did that secret the other weekend. It's completely a gameplay thing, and shouldn't be looked into literally in the Oddworld universe.

But, if you want to speculate, you could try this reason:
The Slig Barracks are basically run exclusively by sligs (apart from Dripik). Sure, perhaps Dripik wouldn't want the Mudokuns to die, but the Sligs might think "how is he going to know" and put a few Mudokuns under a muncher just for fun. After all, Sligs don't seem to like Mudokuns all that much, do they?

Or, maybe the Mudokuns would have gotten sick of working for the sligs with no way out between three bombs and a muncher, so they decided to kill themselves. Anything's possible.

Yet again, stop with the caps.
I'd say they were placed under grinders to make them suffer.
This way they know they're going to die. It's just a cruel way of punishing them and the others around them, they'd have to experience they're friend dying. Glukkons and Sligs hate Muds.

It's possible that the enslaved muds are a bit dumb and can't follow the cause-and-effect of sitting under a grinder and exploding into a million little pieces.

I mean, despite the high casualty rate at Rupturefarms, muds like Abe thought they had a good job. Therefore they must possess a high level of obliviousness.

I think the reason they're so dumb is because they could be depressed.
They sit under those grinders to kill themselves and end life.
It could be like being free to them, they break free from their enslavement and go back to rest in the Monsaic Lines.

It seems doubtful that any Mudokons are that completely oblivious, though obviously there's a limit to the AI intelligence.

In universe reasons: senile, hit round the head too much, drunk, whatever...*shrugs*

No, no, you're all wrong. The mudokons were always there, the saws were simply built around them.

I don't think this is much of a big issue, less than say why do all of the glockons have lulu fund machines in their offices if they scoff at him, and why couldn't abe just grab the riches glukk to get into vykers lab, since he ended up sneaking into the richest gluk's own quarters to give lulu the final bit of money in the first place.
It's just a game, there reason is for gameplay values, and for fun, the reason games were invented in the first place.

As shown in the Gabbiar Auction FMV, Abe can’t keep a Glukkon possessed for long periods of time, so keeping the CEO of Flub Fuels in possession was out of the question. Promoting Lulu to the status of Glockstar (so he would be invited to Vykkers Labs, an offer he would predictably accept) in a rapid amount of time is the only solution because a) he wouldn’t have the time or smarts to employ a security detail, and b) he is too dim to notice what was happening to him.
