Question Hand of Odd DS idea

I was just thinking...since Oddworld has released some games on Nintendo systems before, what if they released Hna dof Odd on DS? I thought it very possible, due to previously being on GBC and GBA (even if those games weren't that great) and that the DS's Wi-Fi would make playing Hand of Odd perfectly possible. Join or exit at times, using the touch screen to purchase items, buildings etc. and place them somewhere on the top screen etc.

Just a thought. Don't kill me, because I haven't said that it will. I just thuoght that's how it could work.

it was supposed to use the MO engine or something better, I'm not sure the DS can handel that.

I don't realy want to see Lorne's original idea cropped down :s

As I've stated previously, I would love to see AE and AO ported to DS plus maybe even SligStorm. I think the dual screens could be great to show a bigger view of the levels. Though I'm not sure how to incorporate the touch-screen.

But this is all just pleasant speculation, really.

Hand of Odd is played by controlling a central character and GameSpeaking instructions to NPCs. Using the touch screen, you could control precisely what characters you give instructions to.

p.s. I'm getting quite tired of people coming up with random ideas for the next Oddworld game. We don't know. Stop speculating wildly, sit down and wait.

we don't have much other things to do sadly, so I guess speculation is the only way to keep gd active

Honestly!

I really see no need for Oddworld to be in either the DS or the PSP. I don't think going with Nintendo would be Oddworld's smartest choice. Especially right now.

I agree with you; establishing a new project for those systems would be a bad idea ATM. However, if there was some way of porting the existing games reasonably cheaply, it would be a wonderful way for them to raise their profile in the lead up to the films.

An online oddworld game for the DS would be nice, but SligStorm even better.

Interesting idea, but like Xavier said, the DS probably won't be able handle it, too big I bet.

Great Idea. I would love to see it on the Nintendo DS, but then again, Oddworld are used to good graphics, a TV screen and perfect sound.

I want guess that Lorne thinks that the generation of console are not good enough to show exactly in his little brain of his. I guessing because so much of his ideas have been cut out games console couldn't cope, he waiting for a better, more powerful console.

Maybe that why he is focus on a movie, maybe he was meant to reveal characters that had to be cut out for the ps/pc

That's probably correct. The ideas that he has, and wants to show us, have to be in good quality, and he's probably going to show us them through films.

I heard that Sligstorm was just the Slig Barracks, or was it something else?
I thought the DS had quite good graphcis and capabilities. Animal Crossing is a fairly large game, with all the characters and personality's and all. I thought it would be quite capable. And I've seen footage of New Super Mario Brother's and that looks amazing in action, rather than bland looking screenshots *shrugs*
I thought the 4th gen consoles (Wii and PS3...I don't like Xbox 360 because it's basically a year less work put into it) seemed pretty good. They can support awesome graphics and capabilites. PS3 has a typical controller for use like the old games (with many gamespeak options) or the Wii's more innitiative sytem with the movement detector with add on Nunchuck (or whatever it is) for movement. Who know's what they might do? It was just a thought I had.

It was going to use approximately as many screens as the Slig Barracks in AE, but a separate story.

I heard SligStorm would have come with Abe's Exoddus or something on a seperate disc if it was ever released, I can't remember where I heard it from.

I could see the touch screen benefiting a puzzle game like ol' Oddworld.

As much as a ninty fan I am I don't think Hoo(Hand of odd) would work well on the ds. Wii? Maybe. DS? No. Simply for the fact that I think it wouldn't work that well. Why? I don't know but i'm pretty darn sure of it >_>.

I do like Nate's idea of AE and AO on the DS . There's no way that could be screwed up....Right?

So, how would that work with the double screen? Seems a bit small for the format, a single screen, doesn't it? To look that good, at least.
