Don't argue at Rexy over that. It's in the rules. So please follow them.
okay lets talk about rules. To which rule is your post related? How did I ignored it? Please tell what you didn't like. And tell my why!!! What is the meaning of the rule? Why is the rule made? Which advantage brings the rule? Is it really necessary? Is the rule really important? Maybe the rule is out of style? Maybe the rule has an anti-rule. (don't spam <-> write more than one word // it's possible I would spam if I would write too much)
Do we really need so many rules? Isn't our life not ruled too much, is it? (don't cross the lawn! Be quiet! ........)

None of that matters. It's the rules. Follow them (it's not hard) or leave.

Who has made these rules? It wasnT the firm of that board.
The problem is, in all forums of that internet have the mods that, on my mind, bad behavior.

And please consider, I need never a mod. Whenever I'm speaking to somebody is ther never a mod on my side. When I speak with friends, with colleagues, with my boss, with the seller of the supermarket, with my neighbours,... never is there a mod. And I wouldn't need there a mod. Why should I need in forums suddenly a mod?

My post is about the rule you argued at Rexy over. One word posts. Please read the forum rules. Most one word posts constitute as spam of the most annoying degree.

Neither Rexy nor I made the rule, but our job is to enforce it. Alcar and Abe Babe are the rule creators, but if the members have a huge problem with a rule, it is usually discussed and sometimes even changed. I've never heard someone complain about the rule against one word posts, so I assume everyone is in general agreement that it's a good rule.

Now, sometimes people get away with it. And if you don't get away with it, too bad. Everytime someone does something against the rules, they take the chance of getting in trouble. And if you happen to be one of those people, you really can't complain as the consequences are clearly stated in the rules. So take the chance if you want, but don't complain if you earn a warning.

Anyway, I can't answer any of your questions because, like I previously said, I didn't make the rules. But I will say that the rule IS important, otherwise we'd have a forum full of shitty one posts and other spam like so many other forums out there.

In brief, what Used said.

We need rules. It's a rule!!!

No honestly, let me give u an example: I started a thread about trainspotting, and we ended it discusing about dirty on cuba. how bizzare is that.
Community only can work if there is someone above them.
Another mistery solved by me***

Firstly may I state that you were never given a warning for posting a one word reply, only an unofficial warning. As Ambi said, we only enforce the rules and that is a rule.

:
Do not, under any circumstances spam. Spam can be defined as posting excessively, flooding, excessive advertising, double posting, posting irrelevant replies or posting replies containing the bare minimum of words. As a result of spamming, the offender(s) will be dealt with by staff members, in one of two manners, these being: warnings and / or post deletion.
And if you would care for a step by step PM into why you were given a warning for spamming continously in the Trainspotting thread, please PM me and I'll be happy to show you.

As others have said, rules are important. The let the forums run smoothly and we have never had a problem with the one word posting rule before.

- Rexy

Have you ever read the word rule so often in a short amount of time it starts sounding weird?

Oh, I can field that one! You see, in real life if you frolic about spouting gobbledegook non sequiturs ad infinitum under people's noses, they then resolve the issue by punching you on said nose. Sadly, an Internet discussion board does not grant individuals this privilege, so it's up to moderators to resolve issues.

That's just an example. I'm not actually familiar with what you did.

It shouldn't have to be stated that one-word posts are against the rules. It's common sense. You're obviously not adding anything to the conversation.

There are exceptions, although extremely rare, when I deem a one-word post so uproariously funny that it warrants its conciseness. This almost never happens.

Every time I see a one-word post, I just want to rip the poster's soul asunder in a untamed tempest of furious vengeance. What can I say? It's a pet peeve.

In the past we have accepted one word posts where the word is ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ if that's sufficient to answer a question.
