kanzumers...

What do you think the kanzumers are? I know that the glukkons make products for them, but what exactly are they.

I was having a conversaton with my brother, and he thinks the kanzumers are actually the clackerz, because how else do they get all their supplies for their towns? I believe they are a completely differant type of creature. probably a scary type.

Ehh, you should have asked this in the Q&A thread at the top of the page.

To address your question, no one really knows what the Khanzumerz are, excpet that they are the ones who purchase all of the industrial domestic goods.

I don't believe the Clakkerz are the Khanzumerz. They may be realted in terms of society, what with the 'erz' at the end of both of their names, but I don't think they are biologically related at all.

Basicily, Khanzumers are the comsumers of Mudos. Like Used said, they buy the products that Vykkers and Glukkons produce. I would also always imagine as well that they would watch the M.O.M. news program as well.

In some manner, Clakkerz and Khanzumerz, I do not believe that they have any resemblence to each other. Clakkerz, at one hand might buy some of the Vykker and Glukkon products, but being the type that don't like other speices, I wouldn't think so. And also, Clakkerz, I believed are named for talking a lot of smack, but are a really cowards. That's why they are called Clakkerz, for Clacking. And Khanzumers are named for the name 'consumer'.

In my thoughts, I always Khanzumers were a resprensentation of comsumers. Like a slug, with a huge mouth, and grubby hands. Or something in that manner. Nothing like a chicken.

To disprove your brother's theory, a Clakker is probably cabable of creating some of their products. They are probably not that stupid. They could use some of the resources around them to do something.

I've noticed through the oddworld games, the regions resemble certain continents of our world. AO, AE, and MO all take place in a region of oddworld that roughly resembles Africa, with the natives being used as slaves and such. In SW, the region resembles an early America.

With this in mind, one can only assume that there has to be a region of Oddworld resembling Europe. Maybe these "Kanzumers" are native to this region.

Weren't khanzumers supposed to be in MO but were cut out like all the other cool things? Yeah, the Khanzumers buy the products, but they are nothing like clakkerz.

My understanding is that Paul O'Connor wrote the manual for Abe's Exoddus, including the segment at the end that made various hints about Munch's Oddysee, including a mention of the Khanzumers. Bear in mind that Paul was infamous for revealing far too much about the games in development and the future of the Oddworld story.

I will remind everyone that we can't even be sure that Khanzumers are a race, and not just the Oddworld word for ‘consumers’.

Ya i know i'm new, but wouldn't that make sense that khanzumers are a different species as every oddworld industrial species serves as a different role/job and and only that one?

For example:

Like glukkons are the bureaucrats of Oddworld.
Sligs are security guards/soldiers.
Vykkers are the scientists.
Interns are...interns.
Slogs are guard dogs.
Shrinks are...heh shrinks.

So wouldn't that kind of follow the theme of Oddworld's species that Khanzumers are a different species who are just Oddworld's consumers?

That would make alot more sense.
I saw before that there was an idea that they may be humans, but that would sort of ruin the fact its Oddworld. But it's not impossible. Many of the creatures have similar enough skeletal structures...ribs, vertabrae, skull etc.

Actually, I'm not too sure that Khanzumers can fit as a possibility as humans, because in the sense that humans do not fit on Oddworld. And someone drew a line by showing some concept art of Fangus being nearily human.

And Ziggy, I doubt that Glukkons are even close to be bureaucrats of Oddworld. My thoughts are that the Magog Cartel has only expanded to the eastern Mudos line. Although, I am open that the Magog Cartel may be on the western side of Mudos too, being that they may be smart in not settling on the Mongo Valley. In other words, Oddworld probably has many speices on Oddworld that are similar in race occupation.

My thoughts are that Khanzumers are a set of creatures. Mainly because, all we know are that Clakkerz are immagrants, Outlaws are creatures trying to live off of the Clakkerz, and that Oktigi live off of the most powerful. Those are all of the villagers we know of. It's just that I don't see Clakkerz living off of the Magog Cartel and Vykker (something, I can't spell it). Outlaws might be the ones selling some things to Vykkers, to make their moolah, but I doubt much of them live along the eastern Mudos, in a civilizited manner. So that makes Khanzumers something we haven't seen before.

I always thought Khanzumers would be these giant worm like species that are eating machines like living Garbage Trucks. Consuming the industrialist's products with their insane amounts of moolah they must have to spend. A paticular nightmare that the industrialist are at the mercy of and must satisfy their needs or else they would get pissed if you know what I mean or end up eating the industrialists themselves if the industrialist don't come through with their products.

What makes them important is that in this case they would be on the top of the food chain literally plus they would have the most moolah even more so then any industrialist on Oddworld.

Thats my theory at least.

Khanzumers are the only truely evil beings on Oddworld. Glukkons, Wolvarks, Vykkers, they're all victims of circumstance and their own evolution. They are different cultures with different values, and are not inherently evil. Khanzumers are evil. I interpret this to mean they are selfish, greedy and lazy despite not having any reason to (Glukkons are greedy because they need to pay their rent). They're Oddworld's version of Earth's consumers. We're all too happy to drive gas-guzzlers or book cheap flights if it'll get us from A to B faster and more comfortably; we'll look for the cheapest goods on the market without considering the œconomic and environmental consequences their mass production is causing elsewhere in the world.

Now if that's true, then I don't see them as being insanely rich or politically powerful. I can't see them struggling to keep up their mortgage payments, either. To me, they seem to embody the worst qualities of the upper and lower classes combined.

That is similar to what I imagined. They are probably large and scary because the glukkons are so afraid of them and are always attempting to satisfy their needs. Kinda like an exagerration of human "consumers".

Nice theories but they're all missing a vital point; the Khanzumers are powerful due to their wealth but what do they do to earn that cash? They can't simply sit on their collective arses all day and munch on meeches.

I came up with what I like to call (in my humble opinion) the definitive fan answer.

:
I've seen no evidence that they are an individual species. It sounds to me like a political statement on OWI's part. When they said that the Khanzumers were the only truly evil race on Oddworld. I think they are just talking about the consumers. We are consumers. The consumers are the ones who have the real power to change things, the way corporations opperate, our effect on the environment. It's all down to what we choose to buy and want we don't. The consumers, or Khanzumers, have the power to put things right, but their greed in choosing the cheapest of everything, is the most evil thing of all.

That's what I think anyway. Essentially OWI has just labelled us all as evil punks.
That's the reason I think that they are the only evil creatures: their inactivity in making a difference. I also think that it refers to every creature who ever bought a product.

Nate_dog_woof kind of summed it up for me. How do they get their wealth? Are they like grocery store managers or employees? Or maybe most of them sell the Glukkons products to everyone else? I don't know. What do you guys think?

BM, OWI hasn't exactly given us a bad name. They have said what could happen if we don't do anything about our problems that we are causing.

Hey i have an idea. Maybe the khanzumerz are all lazy snobs who just inherited money like royalty, but there's a mystery to how they got rich in the first place.

I also would like it if they were these creepy giant worm-like creatures.

But not cliche they need to be oddworld-inated, if that makes sense.

Maybe they are absolutly needed by the other creatures to survive.

For example they could be the only ones biologically able to create oxygen on oddworld, but they doesn't realy need it, so the other creatures have to obey them or else they stop the production.
I don't believe in the theory, it just to show ou what I mean when I say needed

I always pictured them with really thin arms and legs, a chubby body and the head is long like an interns, but they have loads of rows of teeth and a pincer on each side of the mouth, and they dress poshly. Dunno why I thought of this lol.

I always thought that Khanzzumers are not any separate species altogether, that a Khanzzumer is anyone who purchases Vykkers + Glukkons products.

I think the Khanzumerz are a seperate species. After all, its likely the name was differentiated from consumer for a reason. I seem them as looking like humans, but muuuuuuch fatter, grey skinned, and cycloptean.

"most important creatures on Oddworld, the Khanzumerz!"
From AE. Most important creatures. That seems to class them as an animal. I dunno. But that does seem to see them as a different species altogether. Probably great variation within the species, like humans though. Ecxept none of them live on a healthy diet, while only about 0.1% of todays society live on a good diet, at the very least.

We don't actually know whether the plural for creatures refers to the population of the Khanzumer species, or to many species.

It is the difference between "The creatures of Oddworld" and "Them fuzzle creatures"
