I'd bring a Gameboy. Seriously, you can rub sand against the edge of it and use it as an axe to cut down trees and carpenter the timber to build a shelter. This sharpened edge will also skin rabbits, which I will have caught by using the reverse edge as a club.
The Gameboy's battery department can be used to store matches in a waterproof bag for any occassions, such as this, when I may need a fire to cook my rabbit. For an alternative diet, I could remove the battery compartment cover, lower the versatile Gameboy into the waters so that the glowing screen attracts and mesmorises fish so you can easily use the battery cover to scoop them out of the water and hurl them towards the shore. The cover can also be used to debone them!
As for rescue, I can use the Gameboy's screen to reflect sunlight at passing planes and ships, seal an appropriate message in the waterproof bag in the battery compartment and hope the message-in-a-Gameboy reaches land, or failing everything else, practise my balance and use it as a raft to float to safety.
As for hiers, I can use the Gameboy axe to slaughter them as well. The world doesn't need more people, particularly on my island of limited resources.
