Edit: Hm, this looks ranty. Don't take it personally, but this is something that's been nagging at me a long time, now - since before the forum-split ages ago, certainly.

I am not expecting much of a response because of the rep I have on these boards.

NO-ONE on these boards has EVER seemed to post much in the way of responses to art, except Alector (when she was here more) and Middlesboogie (ditto).
And yaknow, I think that reputation might be, in part, something to do with your saying things like this:
:
For a while now I have been talking about how good of an artist I am
|
- that's guaranteed to put a lot of people's backs up, make them think "what an egoist little arse, his art isn't that great". And to be blunt, from what I've seen of your art, it hasn't made me leap around in adulation - granted, you were using a digital camera, and they tend to mutilate art beyond all recognition unless you're a professional photographer, but... *scratches head* To say "I'm a very good artist" immediately raises the bar and makes a person expect something amazing, something Da Vinci standard. And yes, you are a fairly good artist, but I'm sorry, I think you need to take a step back and reevaluate, like I did when I thought I was the world's greatest artist. Looking back on things I have to laugh at myself, since I was far from brilliant, but when I saw my flaws and tried to overcome them I DID get a lot better. I'm still nowhere near the standard of those artists I admire but I'd like to think I'm getting there, as I have a goal to aim for. If you say "I am a great artist" you have no goals, and you don't get any better. Plus it reminds me a little of Naxos - he effectively demanded that everyone stopped posting art until they were better drawers, because he was almost "the greatest artists ever", and when he came to actually POST his art, it was... well, lacking. Average at best.
I don't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, here (and I absolutely don't mean "stop drawing, you're pants" like a certain Fishbone went around the forums ranting), since I know you CAN draw (particularly still-life type drawings), and I enjoy looking at your art (so keep posting it, 'kay?
), but please... lay off the "I'm such a great artist" a little? A little humility goes a long way.
