(untitled) - a W.I.P.

Just want to get a few responces to a stroy I'm working on. The title and character name are still being worked out.

So there he was, in the forest, by himself.
He wasn’t sure where he was. He’d never been here before. He wasn’t worried about where he was, or where he was going. All he needed to know was that where he left was behind him.
Wandering, that’s all he did. Trying to sleep when it was dark, trying to find people while day. Hunting was hard, mainly because he never tried it before. A lone hunter wasn’t a welcoming prospect during his youth. ‘Accidents’ had been known to happen in the wooded hunting grounds, even when no animals were around. It only seemed to take one small argument to fuel a bad ‘accident’, and the way he was viewed, he knew it wouldn’t be a smart thing for him to hunt. Still, he managed, mainly on the fish from the rivers, which were shallower than normal at this time.
Sitting under a tree, already dropping the brown petals from it’s withered plants, he felt… not sadness but something else. He knew sadness was not right; after all he was free now. Loneliness was nothing new, unlike this feeling that now resided in him. It felt like something was truly missing, or truly gone, but without leaving a trace to identify it.
He stood up, not sure what to do. The breeze seemed to encourage him to journey again. Browned petals flowed as if to show him the way.
He moved silently, something he’d always did. This wasn’t to remain unheard; he did it to hear nature, and other things, around him. The birds, the stream, the trees dancing again as the wind whistled it’s quiet tune. He liked this. The natural beauty fuelled his stride. He started to smile. He walked fast, almost jogging. He smirked, a slight laugh escaping him.
He ran. He didn’t know where, or bother to question why; he just ran, as silently as he could. It ended suddenly, when he noticed something different.

Space.
The distance between the trees where the road had run through, this openness was something unnatural. He stopped completely. The moment was forgotten.
A road, a link between two places. One he’d been exiled from, the other he knew nothing of. And he couldn’t tell the two apart. Looking left, he saw the road disappear over a small hill. Looking right, it travelled down and fell beneath the trees.
"Which way?" he pondered. They both looked the same: a scare between the forests, a link between two enemies. A road with two ends, neither very appetising. The old wars were never forgotten, they were just quieter now. Soon his old village would claim more of the land they had lost, violently if necessary. He knew the old fires of hatred would be renewed. Memories ensued.

"If you will not help your people in regaining land that is rightfully ours, you should leave." He remembered the words their unquestionable leader had said to him. There was a chorus of approval from those within the crowd searching for warriors with their leader. "Either fight along side your brethren, or leave this place Adder. We have not the time to deal with cowards."
"Fine. If you wish me to leave, I shale. And the cowards remain, too afraid of thinking to question." With that, he left. It wasn’t his greatest exit; those who finally realised what he said rebuked with threats, then stones, and gestures. Still, he had no ties to the area. Let the war come, and let the blood be shed. He could not stop them, for they didn’t even know why they fought.

Ants, he decided. Not able to live alone, forced to follow ridiculous orders since they wish not to think. A hive of underlings, and one ruler, always searching for more to add.

"But which way..." again, he asked. Speaking as if only to bring himself out of a trance. There was no one to answer, but he needed to hear the words.

Don't worry. The next section is going to encorporate a whole other chapter fragment I've already got written. I just need to fuse the two and expand on both. Of course, this will rpobably be ready at the end of Christmas or next summer. School is getting busy and collage choices need to be made.
