I'm leaving these forums. Not forever I might add as I'll miss them one day.
But it's ridiculous. I've gotten 2 warnings in like...a week. The rule enforcment is slightly overkill in my opinion. You could enforce them a bit but this is a bit much. I'll come back when it lightens up a bit. I mean its like the motherfucking army or something! No one can joke or laugh about anything it seems! So i'm out. Alcar takes being super mod too seriously. It's madness! I'm going to leave some comical websites for ya!

Awwww, don't take them personally Lucipher, just try to keep ontopic. if you're going to argue or joke, make sure you include a decent sized amount of text about the topic, not just leaving it with a short comment On Topic or nothing at all isn't allowed.

It's true... You can't really joke without getting a warning. I didn't spam ever, but as i look on the forums, it's become too strict.
Well yeah, maybe the member should think this before posting: " Should i really post this?"

But guess what... I think that the mods should think this before giving a warning: " DOes this member really deserves this? Was this really spam?"

I somtimes get surprized over silly reasons for giving a warning. Sometime i read a post, then theres a mod telling that it was spam. Then i think: " What the? He didn't do anything... Or maybe but no... It was a joke"

Well... I can't really decide wich way is better, becous when i think again, it seems right... " That was spam, it wasn't rellavent..."
But a forum without jokings and humor, is a boring forums, and OWF is slightely becoming one.

I can't help but agree with you guys.We're losing all our members and some of them don't post much. I have 2 warnings for a compliment to someone and then saying ''Yes you are my irish cousin'' on this thread http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=10476 how many posts there are almost exactly the same as that?Are they deleted?No.Did the writerd get warnings? No. my message was deleted on it but read carefully as nearly all of them are off-topic......This forums is dying.....My tips would be loosen it up before it's but a spec of internet dust...

You may think it's unfair, but Hobo's advice is good... Whenever i want to say something off-topic, i make sure i have something to say on-topic, then the mods don't have ANY right att all to say its spam :P!
I really don't know how to look at this Law enforcement, is it good, is it bad?
But don't leave. I get sadder and sadder when more of our old members leave becouse of some stupid reason about the law. Just try to keep as much as possible on topic, and it'll go fine

Don't worry! I'll probably be back by late december, or early january IF it gets better. I may make one post next month. I think its unfair I got a warning for dissing PA's spelling. HELLO! Who hasn't? No offence PA. I wasn't spamming! And that's easy for you to say hobo! Your the one who gave me the bloody warning (i'm sure you didn't want to) even though it was a reasonable length of text! I think the text shouldn't have to be a certain length as long as it's ON TOPIC! If it's off topic AND short, its spam. If its long and off topic, its not spam. Spam in my definition is something short and off topic. Something long and off topic is not spam and does not really deserve a warning. If the person spams once for like a laugh it does not deserve a warning. If the person keeps posting utter bollocks then that deserves a warning. One piddily line does not harm anyone, nor does anyone really care unless it's really offensive.

See my point?

hobo is right. Whenever I want to crack a joke or something, I make sure to include something On-Topic to justify my post. And it works. Since the rules have been enforced I haven't gotten a single warning!

If I can do it, you can do it! Call now!

I think I watch too many infomercials.

I would just like to say "I have enjoyed being on these forums and I think that any mods who post rape should have their status as mod taken away as that is the worst thing you can do to someone in these forums." Second, "These forums have helped me relate to alot of people and I'm bloody glad for that!

I am beginning to lose the neck....this forum is like some street covered in fire when it used to be a peaceful well loved place.C'mon man 4 years.......don't let it down now.....But I don't know if it's already too late.Apparently the mods don't give a crap but for us members.....And don't worry Luc......Hopefullyy this forum will get sorted out...but if not....I don't think there will be an oddworld forums.....Just please fix it...I liked these forums now and now its a very strict prison.You might think ''If you don't like it join another forum'' is an answer.But it ain't.They are all leaving.And think about when you get no members just mods....this is just another pissed off poster...I could place money that there will be another ''im leaving'' thread next week . It's true you can't change personality and attitudes with rules. But you can minimize totally stupid posts. I've got no problem with one or two spam threads, but it was stupid how it was before. These rules stop the huge mountains of spam, so if everyone just followed the rules then people would stop being annoyed and it would go back to how it used to be. A fun and lively forum.

I wouldn't normally stoop to discussing Forum matters in the Welcomes and Birthdays, but just to clear a few things up:

1) Lucipher will have gotten banned for getting a warning for a post. And if he has left, why is he posting?

2) The rules were there when you all joined. By joining and posting, you have all agreed to abide by them, and that includes the warning system. If you joined before the rules were altered, then there was ample opportunity to voice your opinions when they wre changed. And since no one complained them, you have all agreed to abide by them. It seems stupid that you agree to these terms and then complain when they are enacted.

3) T-nex, the rule about not discussing banned members has existed for longer than you've been a member here.

God, this forum really has gone downhill since I re-joined. But it's like I said when that huge forum split happened a couple of years ago, when most of the veterans here left. OWF is gonna die eventaully. It'll just take a matter of time. . . And looks like it's time is up unless something drastic happens to save it. The re-enforced, "NO BULLS**T. PERIOD." rules are doing thier damage, getting rid of forum veterans, not just the spammers.
Maybe I'm glad that I don't come here much anymore, and that I'm not really as attached to OWF as I used to be.

Moral of the story: Spam isn't as damaging to forums as re-enforced, over-the-top rules.

And to be honest, I'd rather have the spam back.

Anyway, see you, Lucipher. Guess I didn't have a chance to get to know you, since I haven't come here much, but I've seen you around and you've made a good contribution to the forums in the past. Take care of yourself now, and see ya later!
