Wired Mudanchee Abe? =D

well...as those who give a shit (nobody ) might know, I'm finsihing AE with all the mudokons on the second run, I finished it for the first time a very litle while ago...because somehow I didnt feel like finishing it since a long long while ago when I got it

TO THE POINT

I think I found a way to stand peacefully next to a scrab whitout cheating =) it was quite exciting for me, as I do have respect for these beautyfull creatures...I felt like a mudanchee hence the topic name =)

it's in screen SVP02C00 (the top mudanshee vault in the foreground, at the secret area) I just caged the scrab, as usual, then All'ya+followme-ed the mudokons, left them there, and freed the scrab....he killed one of the muds...feasted on him, and then he just stood there inmobile right next to the other mud...and when I came down, he still stood there =), the only thing that got him out of that "trance" was when I tried to possess him, then quit before possesing him, or when I possesed him, and de-possesed him.

Do you guys think that this is a bug? or is it a nifty little detail to give us a little insight into scrabs? heh...maybe the mudanshee had a rite where they sacrified a mud in return of sharing a peacefull moment with their beloved scrabs =)

I think it'd make sense if it was intented, I mean the scrabs do understand the concept of herd, so maybe if they attack a mud, and the others dont respond, they asume that it was the leader, and now they think the remeaning muds are part of their territory =), so when you try to posses them, they take it as an attack and take you out.

Actually scrabs fight for thier mind and stand there screaming if you try to possess them.Hence they are immobile.

cyber-slig...what? I think you dont get what I mean, please re-read my post again, what I mean is that by doing this I was able to jump around, call the mud...fart on the scrab's face, and he wouldnt move...I could do anything with him standing there (the animation playing was the stance anim)

Interesting observation, caracal. I'd say it's a bug, but your theory of the Scrab thinking it had killed the leader of a tribe and somehow 'adopted' the Mudokons is a fascinating one, and I love your idea of the Mudanchee sacrificing one of their own (possibly even their actual leader) to live among the Scrabs for a while.

Of course, following that logic, wouldn't Scrabs then accept Abe or a Slig as their leader if they came along and killed the Alpha Scrab of that herd. Maybe the death has to be the result of a one-on-one struggle for the ordinary Scrabs to accept it as valid, or else only the Alpha Scrabs have such a strong "herd" instinct.

Sorry caracal I just did'nt understand the possessing part.I dont think a slig could be the leader if he killed the alpha scrab.Because another scrab would challenge him after that and he would be slaughtered.Abe could easily use his possessing skills and possess the alpha , kill it and possess any challengers , and kill them. But obviosly hes not evil and he would refuse to abuse his powers. But sacrificing......hmmmm.........I think that could be possible.Maybe not in modern oddworld but in the past. The sacrifice could have saw it as an honour. But in modern oddworld muds go about acting like clowns and forget about the tribes...
