A fan theory was that natural Fleeches looked as their early stone-like concept art did, and were related to Fuzzles (the design of which seems to have sprung from the early Fleeches). It was these proto-Fleeches that were altered into the Fleeches we know today. Apparently someone misread this theory.
I don't remember seeeing any stone art of fleeches. What did they look like?

Aah, gotcha. Isn't that the design that inspired the Raisin also?

I heard a story that LL saw the design for a character that didn't make it (which I always assumed was that fleech design) and liked it so much that he created a new character to fit it - namely, the raisin.

lorne found a tiny sketch of a creature that was going to appear in a later game, but tought it was great and decided to intergrate it into munch's oddysee

The rock-art of the ghost was in AO at the beginning of Paramonia.

Of the Oddworld universe, yeah, but not of every single game screen. I recognised the ghost from Paramonia, but not the 'Fleech'.
