Sad Anything like Abe?

I have finished playing both oddysee and exuddus, which were excellent, but now I have a huge hole in my life. Does anybody know of a similar game - challenges, humour etc. that is available on the psone format? I know that this won't do Oddworld much good but until I can upgrade the psone is the best I have!

Suggestions desperatly needed, Thanks.

That's one enormous hole in your life. If it's just those games that you've played then you've got alot of catching up to do, just take your time to go through these forums and admire all of the Oddworld collection that we have here.

Welcome to the forums Lisa Smith

It's a Good game, but still doesn't match Oddworld in it's entirety.

Like Oddworld...

The Myst group are good for "Wow, look at this wierd planet", but might be a little too puzzle based if you like the platform element. I started off with Myst III: Exile, and recently I got the origional Myst.

I don't think anything will be very close to Oddworld, but Exile is a really good game to just look around in.

the problem is... oddworld is unique, can you specify us what you exactly want?

This game is on Xbox, seems humorous and has an 'against animal testing' theme. I hear it's very fun.

EDIT: Oh, crap! I didn't see that only PSone games were what this woman was looking for. I just saw that she wanted games that were similiar to Oddworld, so I scrolled down and posted. Silly me.

I don't know about PS1 but if you have a pc I would suggest the LucasArts adventure games for humour, especially Grim Fandango which also has depth of plot and amazing graphics and FMVs

yeah rayman rocks! I have nearly all the rayman games and they are great!
If you have to buy one platform game that isn't oddworld, buy Rayman!

Same thing happened to me! I suggest you wait for an Xbox then you can play Munch's oddysee, but till then, it will be a hard time without Oddworld! Heart of darkness is similar and I also suggest Monkey Island for pc for the humour.

I don't know much about PS1 games, but adventure games on PC... Those are great! From the classics, like Goblins through Woodruff and the Schnibble of Azimuth to The Neverhood Chronicles... These are my favourite Point & Click adventure games. But Oddworld... That's The adventure game... I can't think on any other game similar to AO or AE.

Seeing as we seem to no longer be talking about PS1, I would have to put my two cents in for Voodoo Vince on Xbox. Quite simply, this is the best platform game I've ever played.

Its not the most original game ever - I could list 20 ideas that were used in other games - but its how they use those ideas. I mean those 20 other games were all single concept games but VV incorporates all these ideas together in the way he moves, interacts and fights as well as the levels. The levels are completely original, not the standard jumping from platform to platform. One level was a huge capture the flag against freaky dancing monsters. A boss level had me riding a giant rat, trying to be squished under falling masonry (he's a voodoo doll so any intentional damage to him hurts the enemies ). Another had me running around a toy train set trying to get run over.

The main objection I normally have to platformers is the way you have to precisely align yourself to land on a platform or you die . Vince has the ability to float which makes this easy. Also extra lives are freely available so thats not a problem.

Voodoo Vince gets 8.5/10 in the nate_dog game-hall of fame reviews

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I am begining to realise that there is only one Abe! I suppose I like puzzles and humour (like lemmings?) it doesn't have to be 2D as long as it is a big world I can get lost in!!!
Thanks again, looking forward to hearing from you.
