AE on XP

Hi everyone, i saved the old posts where people had trouble running AO and AE on XP HE, anticipating i would have the same problem on my new computer... i did. but the strange part is, none of the threads can help me. my problem is with AE, AO installs fine, and i played it all yesturday, but when i got a bit bored, and tried to install AE i had the problem, my shitty new $2,000 wont even recognise the CD!!! it pretends there is nothing there! WHY!?!?!?!? all my old classics have worked, carmageddon, AO, WarCraft II, hell even MechWarrior works, but why not my beloved AE!!!! plz plz PLZ! help me!

It's probably something wrong with the CD itself, not your computer.

Look at the bottom of your AE CD. Is it scratched badly or beaten up? If so, you could get one of those nifty CD resurfacing kits. They work very well.

the CD itself is perfect, not a single scratch on it, they both are, i think though it could just be a phantom in my computer cos yesturday after about 50 open and closes of the CD drive, it worked, and i installed it...so i thought problem solved, i took it out to put in the play CD and guess what! it didn't work...so i'm absolutly stumped, oddysee works fine everytime, but this is really giving me the shits, maybe i should burn it at a friends and try it again on a different cd?
